Choosing yarn, needles and patterns
Which yarn weight should I choose?
Start with the yarn weight and tension specified in your pattern. Browse 4 ply yarn for finer projects, 8 ply / DK yarn for everyday garments and chunky yarn for thicker knits. Compare fibre content, metres per ball and care instructions, then make a tension swatch before substituting yarn.
Will interchangeable tips fit my cables?
Check the needle system, connection size and tip length before ordering. For ChiaoGoo, MINI [M], Small [S] and Large [L] refer to different joins. Match the tip and cable connection, or use the appropriate adapter where supported. Check whether a listed cable length is the cable alone or the finished length with tips attached.
How do I build a project from a pattern?
Open a design labelled “Build your project” in our project builder collection. Select the options offered for that design, choose your yarn shades and review the calculated quantities. Add optional tools if you need them, then check the selected total before adding to your cart. You can also choose pattern only.
Does a knitting or crochet pattern include yarn?
A listing marked “pattern only” supplies the instructions, with yarn, needles and other materials purchased separately. Check the design's size chart, yarn quantities and required tools. Kits should be checked for their specific included contents before ordering.
