Needles
5mm knitting needles, either straight or circular. The leaflet recommends circular needles for the cot size to accommodate the larger stitch count. The blanket is worked back and forth, including when using circular needles.
If choosing interchangeable needle tips, you will also need a compatible cable. The leaflet does not specify a circular needle length. For the cot builder, we have selected an 80cm-labelled KnitPro cable with standard interchangeable tips as a practical option for working the blanket flat.
Tension
10 stitches and 13 rows measure 5 × 5cm in stocking stitch using 5mm needles (equivalent to 20 stitches and 26 rows over 10cm). This deliberately relaxed tension gives the blanket a lighter feel. Check your tension before starting.
Finishing
Weave in the yarn ends and block if desired. A yarn sewing needle is useful for finishing and is sold separately.
