Understand your Singer fitting

Snap-on feet

These attach to a compatible foot holder. Match the exact foot reference, holder and model. A snap-on label alone does not prove that every stitch or needle position is suitable.

Low shank or slant shank

Singer uses different presser-bar arrangements. Some older machines need a slant-shank attachment, while particular low-shank machines use different walking feet. Check the specified attachment for the exact model.

5mm and 7mm options

Use these labels only where the particular foot is identified that way. Singer's 5mm and 7mm blind-hem feet have different references. They are not universal categories covering every Singer accessory.

Bobbins and cases

Match the bobbin class and material. Class 15, 15J, Class 66 metal, Class 66 plastic and self-winding bobbins have different requirements. The bobbin case must also match the machine's hook system.

Heavy Duty tables

For mechanical models 4411, 4423, 4432 and 4452, the table version depends on the serial number. Read the threshold on each table listing. Computerised Heavy Duty models use a different table fitting.

Overlockers and industrial parts

Use the complete model suffix and part reference. Check both knives in a set, the thread configuration for a plate and any replacement holder needed by a foot.

Needles

Match the needle system in the manual before choosing its size or point. A Singer brand name, flat shank or similar appearance does not make every needle interchangeable.

Controllers and power cords

Match the full reference, connector and electrical rating. Air-operated controls, D-shaped plugs and single-pin electronic pedals are different products.

Common fitting questions

Does Heavy Duty mean every accessory will fit?

No. Mechanical and computerised Heavy Duty machines can use different parts, and some tables depend on serial numbers. Read the exact model and fitting conditions on the listing.

Can I replace a plastic bobbin with a metal one?

Use the material and type specified for the machine. Singer publishes different model lists for Class 66 plastic and metal bobbins. A similar diameter does not establish interchangeability.

Why does a part say to ask us first?

Some older parts have conflicting references, missing codes or production changes. Where an exact fit is not established, we ask for the full model and original part details instead of treating an old broad list as a guarantee.

Where do I find my model number?

Look for the machine's model label or identification plate, usually on the machine body. Copy the full model including letters and suffixes. For an extension table, have the serial number ready too. A clear photo of the label helps us check.

Will a carry case fit by brand alone?

Measure the machine with its handle and controls, then compare the bag's usable internal space. The standard Singer carry-case sheet excludes EM9305. Large accessories may need to be packed separately.
