Home sewing: choose your fabric or finish
Industrial needles — shop by machine type
Match the complete system code in your machine manual, such as DBx1, DPx17 or UY128 GAS. A machine type or needle size alone does not confirm compatibility.
Shop needle brands & specialist finishes
Choose by needle system and sewing task as well as brand. Check the size options and pack quantity on each product.
Needle size & fit guide — help me choose
1. Match your machine
The needle system identifies the format your machine needs. Many home machines use 130/705 H, but overlockers, coverstitch and industrial machines can require different systems. Check your exact model before buying.
2. Match your fabric
Universal needles suit many everyday woven fabrics. Choose jersey ballpoint for knits, stretch for highly elastic fabrics, jeans for denim, or Microtex for fine and densely woven fabrics. Use a leather cutting point for suitable leather, not knitted or woven fabric.
3. Choose the size and finish
For machine needles, a higher size number means a thicker needle; 80/12 and 90/14 each show two sizing systems. Match the size to the fabric and thread. Quilting, topstitch, embroidery and twin needles serve different finishes; check twin-needle spacing against your machine's limits.
4. Keep a fresh pack ready
Replace bent, blunt or damaged needles promptly, and check the needle when stitches skip or thread breaks. Keep spare sizes for the fabrics you sew most and test on a scrap before starting.
