Schmetz SY 2054 / 16x75 needles are a system-specific choice for compatible overlockers. Their narrow flat shank and second thread groove distinguish this family from standard household needles. Edge finishing
Use on the appropriate overlocker to neaten fabric edges. Test the stitch balance and needle penetration on a scrap before finishing a visible or delicate edge.

- Switch off, fit the needle fully in the required orientation, and follow the machine’s needle-threading sequence.
- Test the intended seam layers. Inspect the fabric around the needle holes and check that each stitch forms consistently.
SY 2054 has a different shank specification from standard household 130/705 H needles; a flat side alone does not establish compatibility.

No. Needle systems vary between models and subclasses. Use the full model’s manual to establish the required system.
What do the two size numbers mean?
They are two size conventions for the same needle: for example, NM 80 corresponds to size 12. Neither number replaces the system designation.
