Choosing Madeira thread and embroidery supplies
Start with the technique: Aerofil sewing thread, AeroQuilt quilting thread, Polyneon and Classic/Rayon embroidery threads serve different purposes. Aerolock and Aeroflock offer different overlocker thread constructions. Choose from the product’s stated use rather than treating every Madeira thread as interchangeable.
Compare thread size and presentation: Check the fibre, thread number, spool or cone length and recommended needle before ordering. Metallic, Lana wool-blend and other special-effect threads need their own setup and test sample. A colour-group listing may contain several shade variants; boxed sets have their own stated contents.
Choose support for the fabric: Compare tear-away, cut-away, wash-away and heat-away stabilisers by fabric, stitch density and removal method. Temporary positioning spray and badge adhesive do different jobs. Follow the exact formula and fabric-care directions, testing a scrap first.
Match needles and tools separately: Machine needles must match the system and size required by your machine and thread. An ELx705 overlock needle is not a universal domestic needle. Check each tool’s purpose, dimensions and pack contents; thread, bobbins and pictured accessories are included only where stated.
