Turn a finished badge into an iron-on application
Madeira Heat Seal is a permanent adhesive film for attaching embroidered badges and patches to suitable fabric. Heat activates the bond: this is a finishing adhesive, not a wash-away or heat-removable embroidery backing.
The 20cm x 50m roll provides a cut-to-size supply for repeated badge work. Prepare the adhesive on the back of the finished embroidery before bonding it to the garment.

Prepare repeat applications on compatible garments. Test the actual patch, fabric and pressing equipment together before committing to a batch.
Selected appliqué work
Use where a permanent heat-bonded attachment is appropriate. Fabric coatings, surface texture and care requirements can affect adhesion, so assess suitability on a spare piece first.

How to use it
- Place the badge face down on baking paper. Lay Heat Seal adhesive-side down on its back, release paper up; pre-bond at two dots, no steam, with light pressure for 5 seconds.
- Remove excess film, peel away the release paper and position the badge on the garment. Cover with a clean cloth and gently hold in position.
- Carefully turn the garment inside out. Press firmly from the fabric side at two dots, without steam, for 15–20 seconds. Wait 48 hours before use for full adhesion.
Always test first and ensure all materials tolerate the heat. Madeira warns that over 160°C for longer than 30 seconds may damage materials. Adhesive reactivates when ironed; follow the finished garment's lower care limit.
Good to know
Can Heat Seal replace my embroidery stabiliser?
No. Use appropriate support while stitching, then use Heat Seal to attach the finished badge. These are different jobs.
Is it washable?
Madeira specifies washing up to 40°C. The fabric, thread and badge construction may require cooler or gentler care; complete a sample wash test first.
