Find a steadier way to hold your ruler.

Compare quilting ruler handles and grip aids for the job you are doing. Choose a suction handle for a suitable smooth ruler, adhesive grips for rotary-cutting rulers, or grip material for machine ruler work. Check the exact ruler surface, clear area and intended use before choosing.

Choosing a ruler handle or grip aid

Suction handles need the right surface. They attach to a clean, smooth, flat area large enough for the complete suction cup or cups. Hanging holes, texture, scratches, moisture or a curved surface can affect the seal. The Original Gypsy Gripper requires a ruler at least 4 inches wide and 12½ inches long, excluding the hanging hole. The Little Gypsy Gripper needs a suitable clear area at least 2¼ inches across. Check the separate dimensions for Prym, Kearing and Sew Easy handles.

Adhesive grips go beneath the ruler. Gypsy Quilter No Slip Grip Dots and Grip Hearts add contact points while keeping markings visible. They are different products: compare the material, pack contents and available space before applying. Position grips according to the directions so the ruler sits evenly and important markings stay readable.

Machine ruler work is a separate setup. Handi Quilter Handi Grip is adhesive grip material for suitable quilting rulers and templates used while guiding the machine along their edges. It is not a ruler, ruler foot or support base. Match the ruler, foot, thickness and support to your machine’s instructions.

Keep control while cutting or quilting. A handle or grip aid can help with positioning; it does not lock every ruler in place or replace suitable hand placement. Test the attachment before each use and continue to hold the ruler securely. Rulers, cutters and machines are sold separately.
