Schmetz · Industrial walking-foot needles

The right system for your walking-foot machine.

For industrial machines that specify 135x17, these Schmetz needles provide the standard normal round point for textile sewing. The same system is also known as DPx17 or SY 3355. Match the system to your machine first, then choose a needle size appropriate for the fabric layers and sewing thread.

Ten needles in one selected size, with sizes from 90/14 to 200/25 listed above.

Choose it for your project

Woven projects

Consider the normal round point for woven materials once the machine system and needle size are confirmed.

Layered work

Use on a compatible compound-feed machine for suitable layered projects, staying within the machine's specified sewing capacity.

Repeat sewing

Keep a spare pack of your proven size ready, and retain the labelled packaging so different systems remain separate.

Choose the required option in the selector above. Each selection is supplied separately; this is not a set of every size shown.

Before you start

  1. Check the manual for 135x17 or DPx17 and select a size suited to both fabric and thread.
  2. Switch off the machine and fit the needle fully, following its instructions for orientation and threading.
  3. Sew a scrap with the same layers; check stitch formation and fabric marking before starting the project.

A walking foot alone does not establish compatibility. These are not 135x16 leather-cutting needles or ordinary flat-shank household needles.

Good to know

Will these fit every walking-foot machine?

No. Use them only where the machine specifies 135x17 / DPx17 or its confirmed equivalent.

Does a larger size mean a different system?

No. Size changes needle thickness; the machine must still require this exact needle system.
