Test through the actual top, batting and backing. A flat fabric scrap will not show how the complete sandwich behaves.

Before you start
- Check machine compatibility and choose between 75/11 and 90/14 according to your fabric, thread and layers.
- Install a fresh needle safely, fully seated in the orientation required by your machine manual.
- Stitch a representative test, checking the underside, seam crossings and visible needle holes before beginning the project.
These are household-format quilting needles, not a universal replacement for longarm needles. A dedicated quilting machine may require a different needle system.

Is the larger size always needed for quilting?
No. Choose for the complete fabric and thread combination; the smaller size may suit finer work.
Can these solve every skipped stitch?
No. Also check threading, tension, fabric support and the condition of the needle, particularly during free-motion work.
