Madeira Super Stable · Permanent iron-on cut-away

Iron into place for support that stays.

Super Stable combines an iron-on hold with permanent cut-away support. Use it beneath suitable thick or stretchy fabrics for machine embroidery, appliqué and textile projects that need the backing to remain after sewing.

This white roll measures 30cm x 5m. Cut only the area needed for your embroidery, fabric panel or decorative sewing project.

Where it works best

Thick stretch fabrics

Support suitable heavier stretch materials during embroidery and retain a backing beneath the design afterwards. Check the finished handle on a sample before making the garment.

Dense embroidery and appliqué

Use the iron-on hold to keep backing and fabric together while forming closely spaced stitches. It supports the base fabric rather than acting as appliqué adhesive web.

Bags and textile projects

Add support to suitable bag panels, backpacks, patchwork, cloth books and decorative fabric pieces. Test the amount of structure against the flexibility your project needs.

Backing material Polyester nonwoven
Weight 80 g/m²

How to use it

  1. Place the coated side against the fabric’s reverse. Test first, then press according to the pack directions using a fabric-safe setting no higher than two dots.
  2. Hoop the supported fabric securely, with the fabric uppermost, and embroider. Madeira’s guidance gives approximately 10–15 seconds for adhesion, depending on the fabric.
  3. Carefully lift excess backing outside the embroidered area and cut it away. Hold the stabiliser, not the fabric, and leave support beneath the stitches.

Unlike Cotton Stable, Super Stable is a permanent cut-away. Do not tear it from the embroidery or use it where the finished project requires all backing to dissolve.

Good to know

Is it the same as Super Strong?

Both provide cut-away support, but Super Stable has an iron-on coating. Super Strong is the non-fusible option.

Can I use it on heat-sensitive fabric?

Only if the fabric tolerates the heat needed for a sound bond. Test an offcut; choose non-fusible backing if ironing is unsuitable.
