Temporary support with a dry-heat finish
Madeira Super Film is a clear, perforated film for embroidery where water-soluble support is unsuitable. After stitching, remove the surrounding film and use controlled dry heat for remaining exposed material, following Madeira's instructions.
The 100 micron film is supplied as a 30cm x 5m roll. Its heat-away action is different from both wash-away Avalon and permanent adhesive Heat Seal.

Where it works best
Water-sensitive projects
Consider Super Film where washing is unsuitable, provided the fabric and thread tolerate the removal temperature. Water sensitivity does not mean a material is safe to iron.
Specialist embroidery
Explore appropriate lace, cutwork and decorative embroidery techniques. Test your stitch structure and layer count first, especially when the film is the only foundation for the design.

How to use it
- Cut the required length and hoop securely. For one layer, keep the smooth side up; for two layers, Madeira specifies rough sides together.
- Embroider, then carefully tear or trim away the surplus outside the stitching. Avoid pulling against delicate edges.
- Remove residue with a dry iron at two dots, moving in circles rather than holding still. Madeira's heat-press guide is approximately 120°C for 10–20 seconds; test first.
Do not use steam. Confirm heat tolerance on an offcut before working on the finished piece. Madeira allows cautious adjustment towards three dots only where necessary and safe for the materials; never assume one setting suits every fabric.
Good to know
Is Super Film an iron-on adhesive?
No. Heat is used for removal, not to glue a badge onto a garment. Choose Heat Seal for a permanent adhesive bond.
Will every trace disappear from beneath stitching?
Not necessarily. Madeira notes that material protected beneath badge stitching remains and can continue supporting the embroidery.
