Lightweight topping with extra working width
Madeira Avalon Light, labelled Avalon Film, helps keep embroidery visible on towelling and textured fabrics. This 50cm-wide roll gives you more cutting width for larger hoop setups while retaining the lightweight, transparent film structure.
The roll is 50cm x 10m, with a nominal 30 micron thickness. Extra width does not make it a heavy backing: choose your underlying support according to the fabric and design.

Where it works best
Textured fabrics
Use as a topping for suitable washable knits or pile fabrics. A separate backing may still be necessary beneath the fabric to control movement during stitching.
Sewing and quilting
The transparent film can assist pattern transfer or support fine washable fabrics during decorative sewing. Test removable markings and the wash-out method before working on a valuable piece.

How to use it
- Measure your hoop and cut enough film to be held securely. Place it on the fabric face, with any required backing underneath.
- Hoop without stretching the fabric and stitch your design. Carefully remove the surrounding excess while supporting the embroidery.
- Rinse remaining film away in lukewarm water suitable for the materials. Dry the work according to its care instructions.
All project materials must tolerate water. Store the roll sealed, dry and away from moisture between uses. Measure your own hoop: a 50cm roll is not a guarantee of compatibility with every large frame.
Good to know
How does this differ from the 30cm roll?
Article 9413 provides 50cm cutting width instead of 30cm. Both Avalon Light rolls are lightweight 30 micron film and 10m long.
Should I choose this or Avalon Ultra?
Choose by support as well as width. Light is a fine topping film; Ultra is a firmer 90 micron film for work requiring a stronger temporary foundation.
