Temporary hold, permanent bond or anti-fray?
Temporary products position or hold materials; basting formulas hold layers before stitching. Permanent formulas vary in material suitability and washability. General craft glue is not automatically a washable garment adhesive. Anti-fray finishes seal edges. Test matching offcuts for colour, stiffness and hold, and follow the product’s removal and care directions.
Check sew-through, heat and care instructions
Fusible web, hemming adhesives and specialty bonding thread bond layers; interfacing supports fabric and embroidery backing supports stitches. Only sew through a product identified as sewable. Permanent or no-sew formulas are not automatically suitable for stitching. Follow the exact product’s heat, pressure, drying, curing and care directions, checking fabric tolerance and testing the finished combination.
