A pouch for everyday essentials. A tote for their latest project. An organiser that makes everything easy to find. Start with a ByAnnie pattern, then choose bag-making supplies in New Zealand: zips, Soft and Stable foam, strapping, mesh, vinyl and finishing tools.
Patterns and materials are sold separately. These shopping guides help you assemble your own supplies; they are not prepacked kits or finished bags.
Choose what you’ll make

The everyday pouch · Beginner
Clam Up — extra large
A wide-opening pouch for makeup, cables or sewing essentials. The pattern includes five sizes; this list is for XL, approximately 14 × 19 × 12.7cm (H × W × D).
Fabric: one fat quarter each for the outside and lining (18 × 21 inches each); one fat eighth for coordinating details (9 × 21 inches).
Also gather: 18 × 14-inch template plastic or freezer paper, plus matching 50-weight polyester thread.
Optional: 18 × 14-inch iron-on vinyl laminate for the lining; one ½-inch swivel hook if adding the optional strap. Clear sew-in vinyl is a different material.
A shoulder bag for daily essentials or a craft project, with pockets and a secure zip closure. Small finishes approximately 22.9 × 26.7 × 15.2cm (H × W × D).
Fabric: ⅝ yard each for the outside and lining; ⅞ yard coordinating fabric; a 10 × 18-inch piece of sturdy base fabric such as canvas, cork or suitable vinyl.
Also gather: ⅜ yard fusible interfacing, a 5 × 8¾-inch acrylic base stabiliser (BS105), and 50-weight polyester thread.
Source the exact BS105 base separately; the 4¼ × 11¼-inch BS100 fits the medium tote. This list is for the small tote only.
A zipped organiser that opens into a shallow tray for craft tools, desk essentials or travel items. Medium opens to approximately 6.4 × 17.8 × 12.7cm (H × W × D).
Larger projects: 36 × 58 inches or 72 × 58 inches. The project pack contains four separate 13½ × 18½-inch pieces; check your cutting layout before substituting it.
Choose tote strapping
The small tote needs 1-inch strapping. One 3-yard pack covers its 2½-yard requirement; 6-yard packs are also available.
Clear sew-in vinyl comes as one 16 × 54-inch precut for suitable windows and pockets. Use iron-on vinyl laminate only where the pattern calls for a bonded coating.
Choosing supplies and finishing your handmade gift
Match hardware openings to finished strap width. Follow the pattern’s specified stabiliser and interfacing; foam, fusible interfacing and acrylic bases serve different purposes.
Choose a needle and thread compatible with your machine and fabric, and test through the project’s layers before sewing the bag. Add a handwritten note when giving your finished project.
