Sew Easy · English paper piecing
Make room for a softer curve.
Sew Easy clamshell paper pieces help you prepare repeated curved shapes for hand-worked patchwork and appliqué. Use the pre-cut outline to organise your fabric pieces and create a flowing scalloped effect.

Ready to baste
Pre-cut pieces save the step of tracing and cutting each paper. Use the outline to keep matching fabric units consistent.
Scallops, overlapping rows and appliqué
Play with rows of colour, small prints or feature fabrics. Follow a clamshell-specific pattern for turning the curved edge and arranging the overlaps.
A portable handwork project
Prepare a few pieces at home, then take a small selection, needle and thread with you for short stitching sessions.

Get the most from it
- Match the pack’s stated size and shape to your pattern before cutting fabric.
- Cut fabric with the allowance specified by your pattern. Baste it around the paper using your preferred thread or suitable fabric-basting glue.
- Prepare the curved edge and overlap the rows as directed in your clamshell pattern; curved appliqué is different from simply joining straight EPP edges.
- Remove papers once the surrounding seams or appliqué stitching have secured the shape. Keep intact papers flat if you wish to use them again.
Good to know
Does one pack contain a mixture of sizes?
No. Each pack contains 100 papers in the selected size. If a size selector is shown, choose the size your pattern requires.
Are these iron-on shapes or printable foundation sheets?
No. These are pre-cut papers for preparing fabric pieces. They do not bond to the fabric, and they are not sheets intended for printing foundation-piecing patterns.
Do I add a seam allowance to the fabric?
Yes—cut the fabric with the allowance required by your pattern. The stated paper size is the template size, not a ready-cut fabric piece.
Can the papers be used again?
You may be able to reuse carefully removed papers that remain flat and keep their original shape. Replace torn, distorted or heavily creased pieces.
