01

Original IDT system

PFAFF’s integrated dual feed moves the fabric from above and below for more even feeding and improved layer alignment.

02

Generous sewing space

The 200 mm area to the right of the needle provides room for quilts, home décor, garments and other larger projects.

03

110 built-in stitches

Choose from utility, stretch, quilting, decorative and satin stitches up to 7 mm wide, plus an automatic buttonhole.

04

Large LCD guidance

View the selected stitch and relevant sewing information on the clear, high-resolution PFAFF LCD.

05

Adjustable speed

Set the machine’s maximum sewing speed for detailed work, curves, free-motion techniques or comfortable everyday control.

06

29 needle positions

Position the needle precisely for topstitching, edge stitching, quilting, under-stitching and stitching in the ditch.

Original IDT integrated dual feed

Feed fabric from the top and bottom together

The Original IDT system is built into the machine behind the presser foot. When engaged with a compatible IDT foot, it works with the lower feed dogs to move both fabric surfaces at the same rate.

This can help prevent layers from shifting, seams from creeping and patterns from moving out of alignment.

Where IDT makes a difference

  • Matching checks, stripes and patterned fabrics
  • Keeping quilt layers aligned
  • Feeding slippery or silky fabrics
  • Handling stretch and knit materials
  • Producing even topstitching
  • Sewing long seams without layer movement

Important: IDT is an integrated fabric-feeding system, not a motorised walking foot. Use an IDT-compatible presser foot when the system is engaged.

PFAFF Ambition 610 frequently asked questions

What is the PFAFF Original IDT system?

Original IDT is PFAFF’s integrated dual-feed system. It works with compatible presser feet to feed fabric from above while the lower feed dogs move it from below, helping keep layers aligned.

Is the PFAFF Ambition 610 suitable for quilting?

Yes. Its Original IDT system, 200 mm sewing space, adjustable speed and 29 needle positions are useful for piecing, quilting and stitching in the ditch.

How many stitches does the Ambition 610 have?

It includes 110 utility, stretch, quilting and decorative stitches up to 7 mm wide, plus an automatic one-step buttonhole.

How much sewing space does the Ambition 610 provide?

It provides 200 mm of working space to the right of the needle, giving more room for quilts, garments and home-décor projects.

Can the Ambition 610 sew without the foot control?

Yes. It has a start/stop button for sewing without the foot control, and a speed slider for setting the maximum sewing speed.

Does the Ambition 610 cut the thread automatically?

No. The machine has an automatic tie-off function, but its thread cutter is manual.

Does the Ambition 610 have automatic thread tension?

No. Upper-thread tension is adjusted manually to suit the thread, fabric and stitch being used.

What are the 29 needle positions used for?

They allow accurate placement for topstitching, edge stitching, under-stitching, quilting, piping and stitching in the ditch.

Can the Ambition 610 sew slippery or patterned fabric?

Yes. Original IDT is especially helpful for controlling slippery fabrics and keeping checks, stripes and layered sections aligned.

Does the PFAFF Ambition 610 embroider?

No. It is a computerised sewing and quilting machine, not an embroidery machine. Its decorative stitches are sewn in continuous rows using the sewing-machine feed system.

What is the difference between the Ambition 610 and 620?

The Ambition 620 adds more stitches, sewing fonts, stitch sequencing, automatic thread tension and an automatic thread cutter. The 610 retains Original IDT, 200 mm of space and the core precision features at a lower level in the Ambition range.

Which needles does the Ambition 610 use?

It uses standard flat-shank domestic sewing-machine needles in the 130/705H system. Select the needle type and size for the fabric and thread being used.
