FEATHER DESIGNS · THREE TEMPLATES
A clearer starting point for beautiful feathers.
If drawing a balanced feather feels harder than stitching it, start with a guide. Pauline’s Quilters World Feather Templates helps you plan the shape and proportions first, so you can concentrate on developing the stitched result.

Varying sizes give you options when planning your layout.
Trace a consistent starting design instead of drawing every element freehand.
Use the manufacturer’s hints-and-tips booklet linked below as you practise.

Build confidence before quilting the finished piece
Try the templates on paper first and choose a layout that fits the available space. Think about where the feather begins and ends, and leave room around it rather than squeezing the shape against a seam.
Then practise on a small sandwich made with the same fabric, batting and thread as your project. This lets you judge stitch visibility and density before marking the quilt.
A template helps with the design; practice develops the stitching
Check that your marking method is suitable for the fabric and that the marks can be removed. Take the templates away before sewing, and follow your machine manual for the quilting foot and settings. Start with a modest design and build up as your control improves.

Before you choose
Is a printed booklet supplied?
The manufacturer provides the hints-and-tips booklet digitally. You can open it using the link on this page; this listing is for the physical template set, not a standalone printed book.
Are these only for experienced quilters?
They offer a useful starting shape for beginners as well as more experienced quilters exploring feather designs. A practice piece is still worthwhile before stitching your finished quilt.
