DOT TO DOT · CURVES & GRID SYSTEM

Start with a few dots. Build a whole design.

A simple reference grid makes it easier to plan repeated quilting lines. The PQW Dot to Dot Curves & Grid System combines two grids with three curve-and-line templates, giving you a structured way to explore straight lines, gentle waves and curved layouts.

How the system works

  1. Choose a base grid and mark the reference dots using a suitable fine-tip fabric pencil.
  2. Align a curve or straight edge with those points to lay out the quilting lines.
  3. Repeat or offset the arrangement to build the design, checking the spacing as you go.
  4. Remove the templates and quilt the marked lines using your chosen machine setup.

Choose the right marking pencil

The pencil tip needs to fit through the grid holes and leave a visible, removable mark. Test it on a fabric scrap before marking the project. Use a small quilt sandwich to check the layout, tension and stitching before moving to the finished quilt.

Before you choose

Is this the Geometrics set?

Do I have to use free-motion quilting?

No. The manufacturer’s booklet discusses both feed-dogs-up and free-motion approaches. The method you choose determines the machine setup; follow the guide and your machine manual.
