The blade is exposed when you squeeze the trigger and retracts when released, provided the lock-open setting is not engaged.

Build a cutting setup that works together
Use a self-healing rotary cutting mat beneath your fabric and a suitable quilting ruler for straight cuts. Smooth the fabric, keep your fingers clear of the cutting line and use steady, controlled pressure.
For replacement straight blades, choose OLFA RB45 45mm blades. The RB45H Endurance blade is also a compatible replacement. OLFA specifies PIB45 pinking and WAB45 wave blades for the DX handle when a decorative edge is wanted. Replacement and decorative blades are sold separately.
Get the best from the blade
- Start on a clean, flat cutting mat with the fabric smoothed out.
- Unlock, squeeze the handle and guide the blade away from your body.
- Release the trigger, check that the blade has retracted and engage the closed lock.
- Replace a dull or damaged blade rather than pressing harder.
If you also cut paper, consider keeping a separate blade for fabric. Follow the enclosed instructions when changing the blade or converting the cutter for left-handed use.
Which pink OLFA is right for you?
Choose this Deluxe RTY-2DX/PIK if you prefer a squeeze handle and automatic retraction in the unlocked operating mode.
Prefer a fixed handle? The pink RTY-2C/PIK Quick-Change cutter uses a manual blade cover and a different blade-change mechanism. It is a separate model, not another name for this cutter.
Helpful answers
Can a left-handed person use it?
Yes. The cutter can be configured for either hand. Follow OLFA’s assembly instructions so the blade is positioned correctly beside the ruler and all parts are secure.
Does it include an Endurance blade?
One 45mm straight blade is included. An Endurance blade is not advertised as part of this pink pack; the compatible RB45H is available separately.
Is 45mm suitable for very tight curves?
It is a versatile all-round size for straight cuts and broader curves. For tiny shapes and tighter turns, a smaller rotary cutter or precision scissors can offer better control.
What comes with one order?
One pale-pink OLFA RTY-2DX/PIK rotary cutter with an installed 45mm blade. Cutting mats, rulers, fabric and replacement blades are not included.
