A practical everyday size that is easy to spot

45mm versatility in a lively pink colourway

A 45mm blade covers longer ruler-guided edges efficiently while remaining manageable around common pattern curves and quilting shapes. The bright pink handle is easy to identify in a busy sewing room, classroom or shared cutting space.

Quilting and patchwork

Cut strips, squares, triangles, blocks and suitable cotton layers cleanly against an acrylic ruler.

Dressmaking and sewing

Follow pattern pieces, long edges and broad curves without lifting the fabric as ordinary shears do.

Creative projects

Use it for suitable fabric, paper, cardstock, rubber sheet, film, vinyl and light leather on a proper cutting mat.

A fixed handle for familiar, direct control

Contoured grip without a squeeze-to-cut trigger

The shaped handle and integrated grooves support a steady grip without requiring continuous squeezing. Its slim profile also sits neatly beside an acrylic ruler during long, straight cuts.

Contoured shape

The handle follows the hand more naturally than a flat stick design while staying compact around the cutting area.

Textured on both sides

Integrated grooves support secure handling whether the cutter is arranged for the right or left hand.

Manual cover control

You choose when the blade is exposed, then slide the cover fully back over the edge after cutting.

A safe routine matters with every rotary cutter

Open only when ready, then cover immediately

The cover is manual rather than automatic. Use a proper cutting mat, keep fingers behind the ruler edge and close the cover fully after every cutting session.

1

Prepare the surface

Lay the material flat on a self-healing cutting mat and remove pins, clips and hard fasteners from the blade path.

2

Expose the blade

Pull the sliding blade cover towards you only when the cutter is on the mat and ready to use.

3

Cut smoothly away

Keep the blade vertical and guide the cutter away from your body with controlled pressure.

4

Close the cover

Cover the blade fully before setting down, carrying, changing or storing the cutter.

Official OLFA operating guidance

Use the manual cover and always cut on a mat

Sharp blade safety: the cover helps protect the edge but does not make this cutter child-safe or injury-proof. Keep hands away from the cutting line, cut away from your body and cover the blade immediately after use.
Fewer loose parts, quicker return to the project

Release and secure the blade from the rear clasp

Position the cutter blade side down on a stable surface. Pull the rear clasp down to release the blade, fit the replacement correctly, then push the clasp back up until the assembly is firmly secured.

Never change the blade in your palm. Work on a stable surface, handle the new blade by its centre and confirm that the cover and clasp operate correctly before cutting.
One colourway, two cutting hands

Suitable for right- and left-handed sewists

The blade assembly can be positioned so the cutter sits correctly beside a ruler in either hand. Check the orientation carefully and make sure the rear clasp is locked before use.

A particularly useful choice for...

  • Regular quilting and patchwork cutting
  • Dressmaking pieces and broad pattern curves
  • Users who change 45mm blades frequently
  • Right- or left-handed cutting
  • Sewists who prefer a contoured fixed handle
  • Anyone who loves the bright pink colourway

Choose another cutter or size for...

  • Tiny intricate curves better suited to 18mm or 28mm
  • Thick stacks that call for a suitable 60mm cutter
  • Users who require squeeze-handle blade retraction
  • Decorative pinked or wavy rotary edges
  • Cutting without a protective mat
  • Any material requiring excessive force
Keep a dedicated blade for fabric: paper and abrasive craft materials dull an edge more quickly. Reserving one RB45 or RB45H for textiles helps maintain cleaner quilting and dressmaking cuts.
Two official straight-blade options

Choose standard value or longer edge life

RB45Standard OLFA 45mm tungsten-steel straight rotary blade. One RB45 blade is installed in this cutter.
RB45H EnduranceCompatible OLFA 45mm straight blade designed for longer-lasting sharpness. Sold separately.
The included blade is the standard RB45. The RB45H Endurance blade is an optional compatible replacement and is not included.

Helpful answers before you order

OLFA RTY-2C/PIK FAQs

What makes Quick-Change different?

A clasp on the back releases and secures the blade assembly, reducing the number of loose parts that must be handled during a blade swap.

Does the blade retract automatically?

No. RTY-2C/PIK uses a manual sliding blade cover. Pull it towards you to expose the blade, then close it fully as soon as cutting is complete.

Can a left-handed person use it?

Yes. Position the blade assembly correctly for the chosen hand and secure the rear clasp before use.

Which replacement blades fit?

Use OLFA RB45 standard blades or the compatible RB45H Endurance blade. Decorative 45mm wave and pinking blades are not specified for this model.

Is an Endurance blade included?

No. One standard RB45 blade is installed. The RB45H Endurance blade is an optional replacement sold separately.

Can it cut several fabric layers?

The 45mm format can cut suitable fabric layers, but capacity varies with thickness, weave, finish, blade condition and technique. Test the stack and never compensate for a dull blade with excessive pressure.

Do I need a cutting mat?

Yes. Use a proper self-healing cutting mat to protect the work surface, support clean cutting and help preserve the blade edge.

What is included?
