Canvas bags
Suitable canvas sewing starts with matching the needle, thread and fabric weight. Sew bulky joins only if the machine handles them comfortably.
Heavy woven projects
Choose for appropriate firm fabrics rather than assuming any thick material needs a jeans needle; leather and elastic fabrics can need different points.

Before you start
- Check the required machine system and select 90/14 or 100/16 for your fabric and thread.
- With the machine safely stopped, install a fresh needle fully and in the orientation specified by its manual.
- Test at a controlled speed through the intended layers, checking stitch balance and avoiding any need to force the fabric.
A heavier needle cannot overcome a machine's limits. For stretch denim, test whether a stretch-specific needle gives better stitch formation without fabric damage.

Three needles are 90/14 and two are 100/16; this is a heavier-size assortment.
Can I use these in an overlocker?
Only if the machine manual specifies a compatible needle system. Some overlockers require a different format, such as ELx705.
