Make a confident start
- Check that the base fabric and threads tolerate the water treatment. Test on a small scrap first.
- Tack the guide securely onto the fabric, then stitch through both layers without pulling the stitches too tightly.
- Remove the tacking and dissolve the canvas in warm water as directed on the pack. Rinse thoroughly and let the project dry.
The base fabric must be washable at the temperature needed to dissolve the canvas. This is a temporary grid, not permanent backing or a printed design.
Useful to know
Is this the same as waste canvas?
It serves a similar counting purpose, but dissolves in water rather than requiring the individual canvas threads to be pulled out.
Are thread and a pattern included?
No. This is one sheet of soluble canvas; add your own pattern, fabric, needle and thread.
