Do Square Knitting Needles Change Your Gauge?
Some square knitting needles require knitters to select a larger size to achieve the same gauge as a round needle. ChiaoGoo has specifically calibrated its QUADS tips to avoid this problem.
If your pattern requires a 4.00mm needle, begin with the 4.00mm QUADS tips rather than automatically choosing a larger size. Individual knitting tension can still vary, so we recommend making a gauge swatch before beginning a fitted garment or other gauge-sensitive project.

The 13cm / 5" tips provide more room to hold the needle than the shorter 10cm version. This makes them an excellent everyday option for:
