Brother BM6 is a water-soluble non-woven material for embroidery where the support should disappear afterwards. It is a useful option for suitable lace designs and washable decorative projects.

How to use it
- Read the design and pack instructions. Cut enough backing for secure hooping and use the recommended number of layers.
- Hoop and embroider a sample first. For freestanding work, use a design digitised specifically for that technique.
- Cut away surplus carefully, then soak and rinse as directed until the support is removed. Shape and dry the finished work appropriately.
An ordinary embroidery design will not necessarily hold together without fabric underneath. The stitch structure must suit freestanding work; changing the stabiliser alone is not enough.

Is BM6 the same as BM5?
No. BM6 is non-woven support, supplied as 30 × 150cm. BM5 is a 28 × 300cm film commonly used over fabric pile.
Will it provide lasting support on stretch garments?
No. It dissolves after rinsing. Use an appropriate permanent backing where the fabric and design need ongoing reinforcement.
