Choosing a Staedtler drafting or marking tool
Paper drafting and drawing: Match Mars Micro leads to the pencil’s 0.5 mm or 0.7 mm diameter, then choose the stated HB or 2 B grade. Artist pencils, pigment fineliners, the compass and flexible curve serve different drawing tasks. Check the exact point size, dimensions and pack contents.
Permanent and removable marks differ: Permanent Lumocolor markers and the permanent marking pencil are intended for lasting marks on suitable stated surfaces. The non-permanent pencil can wipe from many smooth surfaces, but porous paper, wood, fabric or leather can retain a mark. Do not treat these as universally removable garment markers.
Fabric pens are for decoration: The double-ended fabric pens need 24 hours to dry and no heat fixing. Their listing specifies washability up to 60°C on light fabrics within the garment’s care limits; designs on dark fabrics are not washable. Test the full drawing and washing process on matching spare fabric first.
Choose the correct board or craft product: Whiteboard pens, liquid chalk markers, metallic paper pens and watercolour graphite pencils have different surfaces and uses. Follow the selected product’s directions for removal or finishing. A whiteboard claim does not make a pen suitable for erasable fabric construction lines.
