02 / Your quilting upgrade
Press blocks with control
Pair a compact steam iron with a wool mat and a dedicated pressing guide.
- Start with Oliso M3Pro: Aqua, Pistachio, Coral or Kaffe Fassett.
- Choose your mat: Oliso Wool MultiMat, Gypsy Quilter 13.5-inch square or 17 × 24-inch mat.
- Measure, fold and press: Clover Hot Hemmer or Long Hot Hemmer.
The M3Pro includes its own Solemate rest. Protect the surface beneath a wool mat and follow its care directions.

Shape curves and seams
Build around your existing iron with supports for darts, curved seams and narrow areas.
- Choose shaping support: Birch ham & sleeve roll set or the separate tailor's ham.
- Finish hems: Clover Long Hot Hemmer.
- Working with fusibles? Add reusable pressing paper to help protect your iron from adhesive.
Use the heat setting and pressing method specified for your fabric and fusible material.
Keep Soak Flatter close by
This starch-free ironing and smoothing spray is an easy addition to your pressing routine. Choose Scentless or a fragrance, check your fabric's care instructions and test on a scrap first.
Which pressing mat or board should I choose?
Choose a compact board for a small workstation, a narrow board for sleeves, or a wool mat sized for your patchwork. The Oliso MultiMat is 35.6 × 35.6cm. Gypsy Quilter mats here come in 13.5 × 13.5-inch and 17 × 24-inch sizes. A wool mat is not a hot-iron rest: protect the table below, keep it off rotary cutting mats and follow the maker's steam and drying instructions.
Do the mini iron rests and carry case fit every iron?
No. The Prym mini silicone rests are 15 × 10cm; check soleplate size and shape before choosing one. The Prym 612100 carry case is supplied empty and its fitted insert is designed for Prym mini irons. Confirm fit with us for other brands. An Oliso M3Pro already includes its Solemate silicone rest.
Can I press directly over a quilting ruler?
Use a tool specifically designed for pressing, such as the Clover Hot Hemmer, and follow its instructions. Keep ordinary acrylic cutting rulers away from the iron. Pressing paper helps separate adhesive from the iron but does not make a heat-sensitive fabric safe to iron.
What should I buy if I already have an iron?
Start with the missing support for your project: a suitable mat or board for patchwork, a ham and sleeve roll for shaping, or a pressing guide for hems. The ByAnnie tool gives you a hand pressing end for small seams. You can add Flatter when your fabric and project call for a smoothing spray.
