A fine, acute point for accurate stitch placement.

Schmetz Microtex needles use a slim acute point for precise sewing in fine, densely woven or coated materials. They are useful for suitable silk, microfibre, poplin and synthetic leather, as well as crisp edge stitching. Choose the needle size with the fabric and thread so the point can do its work without unnecessary marking.

Five needles per pack, with 80/12 and Assorted options available above.

Fine and dense weaves

Try suitable silk, taffeta or microfibre. A sample helps you judge stitch formation and any visible needle marks before construction.

Precise edge stitching

Use for defined stitching on collars, button bands and similar details where the placement of each stitch is easy to see.

Coated materials and batiks

Consider for suitable coated fabrics or tightly woven quilting batiks. Include the intended backing or interfacing when testing the needle.

Before you start

  1. Confirm machine compatibility, then choose the size for the fabric, thread and number of layers.
  2. Switch off and fit the needle as directed by the machine manual, taking care of its fine point.
  3. Sew a sample and inspect the stitch line, replacing the needle if the point starts snagging or marking.

The acute point is comparatively delicate. Check it regularly, especially after bulky seams or accidental pin contact.

Its main purpose is fine, dense or coated materials. For knitted or highly elastic fabrics, compare Jersey or Stretch needles.

Can I use it for quilting?
