Spend more time on the seam.
Automatic trimming cuts the threads at the end of sewing, while backtacking helps secure the seam. Pneumatic foot lift makes it easier to release and reposition the work.
Unison feed—also called compound feed—coordinates the needle, feed dog and walking feet to help control layered materials.
Room for upholstery and covers
The high, semi-long arm provides space to the right of the needle for handling larger pieces. This is useful when positioning folds, reinforcement and bulk around the sewing area.

Switchable tension
Stepping over thicker sectionsAdjustable alternating foot movement helps the feet travel over changes in thickness. The stepping control is useful at layered junctions.
More bobbin capacityThe LU-2818-7 uses the larger 2.7-fold-capacity hook shown at right in Juki's comparison. It reduces the frequency of bobbin changes.

Foot lift is not a sewing-thickness guarantee. The 20mm automatic lift provides clearance to position work. Material hardness, layers, compression and thread choice determine actual sewing suitability.

Does it need compressed air?
Yes. Its pneumatic functions require an appropriate air supply. Confirm the installation requirements before delivery.
Does stepping mean automatic thickness sensing?
No. The operator can change the alternating foot movement to help cross thicker sections. It should not be confused with automatic material detection.
Why does the brochure mention a 12mm stitch?
Juki's documentation includes longer-stitch settings and different configurations. This listing retains a 9mm advertised limit; if you need longer stitches, confirm the supplied setup before ordering.
Is this the short-thread-tail LU-2828 model?
No. This is the LU-2818A listing. It has automatic trimming, but the LU-2828's special short-thread-tail claims should not be applied to this machine.
