Choose the right Crucci yarn range
Fine yarns for small stitches
Baby Love is a fine 3 ply merino yarn for patterns written for that weight. Greywacke Naturals is a separate 4 ply pure-New-Zealand-wool range. Crucci Sock combines superwash merino and nylon in 4 ply; the reinforcement makes it a different choice from an all-wool garment yarn.
Everyday DK or a brushed finish?
Soft Pure Wool 8 Ply gives a traditional smooth wool option with machine-wash care. Aella 8 Ply combines alpaca and merino in a brushed yarn with a soft halo. Both sit in the DK shopping group, but their texture and finished fabric differ, so check a washed gauge swatch before substituting.
Choose your chunky weight
Aella 12 Ply is a brushed alpaca/merino blend. Sporte Merino 14ply is a fuller pure-merino option. Neither should be substituted for a lighter yarn simply by using the same needles: follow the pattern gauge, yarn construction and required metreage.
Care and colour planning
