Smooth garment curves from one versatile guide
The Kearing 32cm Vary Form Curve Ruler helps you draw and refine curved pattern lines. Rotate and reposition the ruler to find the section that matches your shape, then blend your marked points into a smooth outline.
Choose transparent plastic or aluminium to suit the way you like to work.
Useful throughout the drafting process
- Armholes and sleeve caps: refine the curves where the sleeve and bodice meet.
- Necklines and collars: draw curved edges when creating or adjusting a pattern.
- Waist and crotch curves: blend changes into existing garment lines.
- Pattern alterations: redraw smooth transitions between adjustment points.
Choose your ruler
Transparent: clear plastic lets you see the original pattern beneath the ruler. Markings are sandwiched between plastic layers to help protect them from wear.
Aluminium: a lightweight metal alternative for your pattern-making kit, with metric graduations.

A simple drafting tip
Mark the points for your new line first. Match a section of the ruler to several points, trace a short length, then reposition it to continue the curve without a sharp join. Work on a traced copy if you want to preserve your original pattern.
