When to choose Tear Away Plus

For stable fabrics

A useful starting point for embroidery on stable woven fabrics, from monograms to decorative stitch patterns.

Support for detail

Use beneath machine appliqué, satin stitching and designs that need a firmer foundation than a lightweight tear-away.

Only the support you need

Cut from the roll to suit your hoop or sewing area. Test extra layers where the design needs more support.

Choose white or black using the colour selector above. Each selection is for one roll, not a mixed pack.

Check the roll width against the area you need to cover, including enough material for secure hooping where required.

How to use it

  1. Place the stabiliser beneath the fabric and hoop both securely without stretching the fabric.
  2. Stitch your design. Test the fabric, thread, design and layer count together before starting the finished piece.
  3. Support the stitches and gently tear away excess towards the design. Remove multiple layers separately.

Tear-away is temporary support, not a wash-away film. Backing can remain within the stitched area. For stretchy fabrics or designs needing lasting support, consider a cut-away.

Good to know

Is this self-adhesive?

No. Choose Filmoplast if you need a sticky surface to hold a small or difficult-to-hoop item.

Can I use it for ordinary decorative sewing?

Yes. Place it underneath the stitching area to support appliqué, buttonholes or decorative stitches, then remove the excess carefully.
