Garment sewing
Construct woven clothing, sew stretch seams, install zips and create repeatable one-step buttonholes.
The SINGER Heavy Duty 4432 is the creative all-rounder of the standard mechanical range. It combines a high-performance motor and sturdy metal interior frame with 32 built-in stitches for garments, stretch fabrics, home décor, costumes, crafts and the repairs that keep everyday life moving.
Power • speed • creative range
Choose the 4432 when you value direct dials and straightforward setup but do not want a limited stitch library. Its wider selection supports both everyday construction and the visible details that turn a useful project into something personal.
Construct woven clothing, sew stretch seams, install zips and create repeatable one-step buttonholes.
Choose from seven dedicated stretch stitches with the correct ballpoint/stretch needle for suitable knits.
Add borders, surface patterns, appliqué, contrast thread and creative finishes using 18 decorative stitches.
Make cushions, curtains, table linen, organisers and other projects where long seams reward extra speed.
Work with denim, canvas and selected light leather when needle, thread, foot and layers suit the material.
Shorten, patch, reinforce and creatively transform clothing, costumes and useful household items.
Built-in stitches are the formations shown on the selector dial. Stitch applications are the techniques those stitches can perform when you change the length, width, needle position, foot, needle, thread and fabric.
The 4432 expands the mechanical Heavy Duty formula with seven stretch stitches and eighteen decorative stitches. That matters when you sew wardrobes, costumes, children’s clothing, crafts or personalised home projects—not because every seam needs decoration, but because the right formation is available when the design calls for it.
The built-in needle threader and one-step buttonhole keep that extra capability convenient rather than complicated.
Personalise borders, crafts, gifts, appliqué and visible details with far more choice than the 4423.
Expand the options for suitable jerseys, knit garments, elastic and seams that need flexibility.
Assists with passing the upper thread through the needle eye when starting or changing colours.
Uses the supplied foot and your button to sew consistent buttonholes at the required size.
Everyday seams, hems, topstitching, repairs, gathering preparation and a wide range of construction work.
Raw-edge finishing, elastic application, reinforcement, mending and side-to-side techniques.
Seven dedicated formations for suitable knit fabrics and seams that need to move.
Create a discreet hem on suitable trousers, skirts, dresses and home furnishings.
Neaten selected raw edges on a regular sewing machine without trimming the fabric.
Place the button in the foot and sew a correctly sized, repeatable buttonhole.
Eighteen visible choices for borders, accents, appliqué, costumes and creative surface work.
Move the needle for edge stitching, topstitching, piping and zip insertion.
The 32 stitches are displayed on the machine; rotate the dial to choose the required formation.
Shorten or lengthen compatible stitches for construction, basting, topstitching and visual effect.
Control side-to-side width for compatible utility, stretch and decorative stitches.
Select left, centre or right positioning for edge stitching, zips, piping and seam placement.
Increase or reduce pressure when the material benefits from a lighter or firmer hold.
Control the pace through pedal pressure, from precise first stitches to high-speed sewing.

Follow the marked upper-thread path, raise the needle fully and use the built-in needle threader to help pull thread through the eye. Drop a transparent Class 15 bobbin into the top compartment and monitor the remaining supply through the clear cover.
Useful when changing thread colours throughout decorative or garment work.
Quick to load, easy to remove and visible while you sew.
Use the stated bobbin class rather than a similar-looking substitute.
Trim thread tails at the machine after finishing the seam.
Provides the speed and piercing ability that distinguish the mechanical Heavy Duty family.
Complete long straight seams quickly, then ease off the pedal for corners and detailed work.
Creates a rigid internal foundation that supports the machine's moving mechanisms.
Provides a smooth working surface so material can travel across the machine with less drag.
Fine-tunes how firmly the presser foot holds lighter, standard or heavier fabrics.
Creates additional clearance while placing a bulky hem or layered area beneath the foot.
| Material or project | Good starting setup | What to check on your test piece |
|---|---|---|
| Light woven fabric | Fine universal or sharp needle, standard thread and reduced foot pressure if feeding needs it. | Check for puckering, needle damage and balanced tension. |
| Everyday cotton | Universal domestic needle, general-purpose foot and straight or zigzag stitch as required. | Confirm stitch length, seam allowance and securing method on the real layer count. |
| Jersey or knit | Ballpoint/stretch needle, suitable thread and one of the seven stretch stitches. | Confirm the seam stretches sufficiently without tunnelling or skipped stitches. |
| Denim | Fresh denim/jeans needle, suitable thread and a clearance aid at pronounced hem ridges. | Test the thickest crossing; slow down and stop if the needle meets hard resistance. |
| Canvas | Heavy universal or jeans needle selected for the fabric, suitable thread and controlled speed. | Check whether folded intersections fit and feed without pulling the material. |
| Light leather or vinyl | Material-appropriate needle and foot; longer stitch length where suitable. | Needle holes are permanent—test first and avoid forcing dense or bulky layers. |

All four share the core mechanical Heavy Duty platform: a metal interior frame, stainless-steel bedplate, top drop-in bobbin, adjustable foot pressure and speeds up to 1,100 stitches per minute. The deciding differences are stitch choice, buttonhole convenience, needle threading and the accessory package.

View the Heavy Duty ComboYes. It has mechanical dials, a visible top bobbin, built-in needle threader and one-step buttonhole. A beginner can start with basic stitches and grow into the wider stretch and decorative selection over time.
It has 32 actual built-in stitches: 6 basic, 7 stretch, 18 decorative and one one-step buttonhole. SINGER counts 110 stitch applications—the different techniques those stitches can perform with suitable settings, feet, needles and fabrics.
Its published maximum is up to 1,100 stitches per minute. Use the foot controller to slow down for starts, corners, layer changes and detail, then increase speed on long controlled seams.
Yes, it is designed for sturdier domestic projects including denim and canvas. Results depend on material density, layer count, seam bulk, needle, thread, foot and speed. Use the correct fresh needle, test the thickest intersection and never force the fabric.
It can sew selected light leather or faux-leather projects with a material-appropriate needle, thread, foot and settings. Needle holes are permanent, so test first. The 4432 is not an industrial walking-foot leather machine and should not be presented as suitable for unrestricted leather thicknesses.
Yes. Raise the needle to its highest position and use the built-in mechanism to help pull the upper thread through the needle eye.
Place the button in the rear of the supplied buttonhole foot. The foot establishes the required length, allowing the machine to sew the sequence in one setting and repeat the size for matching buttons.
Use transparent Class 15 bobbins. Similar-looking bobbins can have a different profile or dimensions, so match the stated class for reliable winding and stitch formation.
Use domestic sewing-machine needles in the correct type and size: universal for many wovens, jeans/denim for dense denim, ballpoint or stretch for knits, and leather needles only for suitable leather. Replace a bent, blunt or damaged needle immediately.
Yes. It includes seven dedicated stretch stitches. Pair the chosen stitch with a suitable ballpoint/stretch needle and appropriate thread, then test the real fabric and seam before sewing the project.
Yes. Stitch length and the width of compatible stitches are adjustable using the mechanical controls. Maximum published stitch width is 6mm.
Yes. The drop-feed lever lowers the feed teeth for button sewing and guided free-motion work. Move the lever back and turn the handwheel one full turn to re-engage the feed teeth.
Yes. Slide off the removable accessory compartment to expose the free arm for trouser hems, sleeve cuffs and other tubular pieces.
No. Its zigzag and overedge-style stitches can neaten many raw edges, but it does not trim and wrap the edge in one operation like an overlocker. Many sewists use the 4432 for construction and decoration, then an overlocker for fast seam finishing.
No. It is a fast, strong domestic mechanical machine. An industrial machine is engineered for a specific operation, sustained production use and a defined material range.
Both include the needle threader, one-step buttonhole and core Heavy Duty platform. The 4423 has 23 built-in stitches; the 4432 increases that to 32 with seven stretch and eighteen decorative choices. Choose the 4432 when the larger creative library will be useful.
The core stitch range and main mechanical functions are effectively the same. The 4452 adds a walking/even-feed foot, non-stick foot, clearance plate and heavy-duty needles. Choose the 4432 when you want the 32-stitch machine without paying for that bonus kit.
Yes, compatible mechanical Heavy Duty extension tables are available, but SINGER changed the fitting during production. Check the 4432 serial number against the table listing before ordering the current-generation or older-version table.
Choose the SINGER 4432 for the speed and sturdy construction of the Heavy Duty family, plus the stretch and decorative range to take garments, costumes, crafts and home projects further.
