How is the SR-5800 different from the ES-94A?
The SR-5800 uses a sealed pressure vessel to produce pressurised steam. The ES-94A has no boiler; an elevated bottle gravity-feeds water directly to its heated iron.
How long does it take to heat?
The manufacturer’s SR-5800 manual gives approximately 10–20 minutes, depending on how much water is in the vessel and the starting conditions. Use the pressure gauge and indicators rather than time alone.
How much pressure does it produce?
The NZ listing publishes 0.25–0.4MPa, equivalent to approximately 2.5–4 bar. Manufacturer instructions reference normal readiness around 3.5 bar.
Can I refill it while it is still hot?
The safest approach is to switch off, unplug and allow the unit to cool. The pressure gauge must show zero before the cap is opened. Hot pressure and adding cool water to a heated vessel can cause scalding or water eruption, so follow the supplied manual exactly.
Can it be used for dry ironing?
Yes. The manufacturer says to leave the steam-generator switches off, switch on only the iron and select the appropriate fabric temperature.
Why is water coming through the iron?
The system may not be fully heated, the iron temperature may be too low or the vessel may be overfilled. Stop and follow the manual’s troubleshooting instructions before continuing.
What water should I use?
Use clean water. For hard-water areas, the manufacturer’s English manual recommends distilled water or a 50/50 tap-and-distilled mix. Do not add perfume, starch, special ironing water or chemical scale treatments.
Does the indicator show that the water level is adequate?
