A serious machine for quilters—and far more than quilting

The new-generation difference

Laser guidance + presser-foot recognition put confidence beside the needle

The 725 adds two genuinely useful forms of assistance. Move the projected laser left or right and adjust its brightness to create a visible guide before the fabric reaches the needle. Attach an included presser foot and the recognition system checks whether it suits the selected stitch—and can flag incorrect attachment.

Adjustable positionMove the projected guide left or right to suit seam and quilting placement.
Adjustable brightnessSet a useful level for the fabric and lighting conditions.
Compatibility checkThe machine checks included feet against the selected stitch.
Clearer setupUseful on a feature-rich machine with many feet and techniques to explore.

An 8-inch capacitive touchscreen with connected guidance

The 174 x 96mm active area gives stitches, settings and help room to breathe. Tap and swipe directly on the colour display, make confident edits and keep essential controls together.

  • Built-in Help Centre: find guidance at the machine when a symbol or function is unfamiliar.
  • CREATIVATE connectivity: receive compatible updates and use connected inspiration and services over 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.
  • File Manager: organise and save suitable stitches, sequences and sewing states to the machine, CREATIVATE or USB.
  • Automatic recommendations: see useful stitch, foot, needle and setting information for the selected technique.

A free CREATIVATE account may be required for connected functions. Some optional content or services can require a paid plan; check current CREATIVATE terms.

Creative expression

Start with 730 stitches. Finish with something entirely your own.

Choose from utility, quilt, needle-art, satin, decorative, monogram and technique menus. Then use Stitch Creator to alter individual points in a built-in 9mm stitch—or design a new stitch from the screen.

Six fonts—Block, Comic, Cyrillic, Grand, Outline and Script—expand labels, monograms and personalised details.

Maxi stitches up to 52mm wide use side-motion technology to create statement designs far wider than the standard 9mm stitch field.

Ribbon stitches

Single, double and triple options help couch narrow ribbon into dimensional decorative effects.

Floating stitches

Create designs that appear to float over the fabric with carefully formed connecting stitches.

Stacking stitches

Layer compatible stitch sequences to build complex decorative patterns.

Radiant + lace-edge techniques

Explore current-generation specialty techniques for bold accents and decorative edges.

Sequencing + tapering

Combine stitches and lettering, then taper compatible stitches for polished beginnings, ends and motifs.

Four-direction sewing

Use selected side-motion stitches to sew in multiple directions where turning a project is difficult.

Everyday control

Automation that removes interruptions—not your creative choices

The 725 can handle repetitive setup and finishing tasks while leaving important settings available for adjustment.

Automatic needle threader

Thread the needle quickly with the built-in lever system.

Automatic tension

Receive a suitable starting tension, with adjustment available for specialty work.

Auto-Snip

Cut top and bobbin threads at the end of suitable sewing.

Automatic foot lift

Let the machine lift the foot at useful moments or use the included knee lift.

Electronic piercing power

Maintains controlled needle penetration through suitable heavier fabrics and layers.

Needle up/down

Choose a consistent stop position for turning, appliqué and quilting.

Separate bobbin motor

Wind a bobbin independently without rethreading the sewing path.

Speed control + start/stop

Set a comfortable maximum and sew suitable work without the foot controller.

Quilting projects made with PFAFF quilt expression 725
Designed with quilters in mind

Piece accurately. Manoeuvre freely. Quilt your way.

The nearly 10-inch / 250mm space to the right of the needle accommodates a substantial quilt section. Original IDT supports consistent piecing and straight-line work, while four free-motion settings tailor the machine behaviour to different feet and techniques.

Dynamic Spring

For suitable dynamic spring feet such as optional 6D.

Spring

For compatible spring-action free-motion feet.

Ruler Foot

For a suitable free-motion ruler foot and template work.

Sensormatic

Works with the included 6A Sensormatic Free-motion Foot.

Disengage Original IDT for free-motion work. Optional feet are required for modes not covered by the included 6A foot. Use a straight-stitch plate for suitable straight free-motion work and support the quilt's weight around the machine.

Frequently asked questions

PFAFF quilt expression 725 FAQs

What kind of machine is the PFAFF quilt expression 725?

It is a premium full-size computerised domestic sewing and quilting machine. It combines a large 250mm workspace, Original IDT, laser guidance, an 8-inch touchscreen, 730 stitches and advanced quilting and stitch-design features. It is not an embroidery machine or an industrial sewing machine.

Is the quilt expression 725 a new model?

Yes. It belongs to PFAFF's new expression generation. Compared with the previous 710 and 720 platform, it adds the larger capacitive touchscreen, adjustable laser guidance, presser-foot recognition, CREATIVATE connectivity and a much larger built-in stitch library.

How many stitches and fonts does it have?

The current quilt expression 725 has 730 stitches and six sewing fonts: Block, Comic, Cyrillic, Grand, Outline and Script. Older 428-stitch and four-font figures relate to previous expression information and should not be used for this model.

What does the adjustable laser do?

It projects a red guide line onto the fabric in front of the presser foot. Move the line left or right and adjust its brightness to help align decorative stitches, topstitching or parallel quilting. It is a visual guide, not a cutting laser.

What is Presser Foot Recognition?

The machine recognises included presser feet and checks whether the attached foot is compatible with the selected stitch. It can also warn when a recognised foot is attached incorrectly. It does not promise recognition of every optional or third-party foot.

Does it include Original IDT?

Yes. Original IDT is PFAFF's integrated dual-feed system. With a compatible foot engaged, it works with the lower feed teeth to help upper and lower fabric layers move consistently.

How much space is there for a quilt?

There is 250mm—nearly 10 inches—between the needle and the machine tower. The project also needs clear, supported space around the machine so its weight does not drag against the needle.

What is Stitch Creator?

Stitch Creator lets you edit the individual points in a built-in 9mm stitch or create a new 9mm stitch on screen. This is sewing-machine stitch design; it does not import or sew hoop-embroidery files.

Which exclusive stitch techniques are included?

The technique menus include single, double and triple ribbon stitches, stacking stitches, floating stitches, radiant stitches and lace-edge stitches, alongside Maxi, side-motion and many conventional stitch categories.

What are Maxi stitches?

Maxi stitches use side-motion technology to create designs up to approximately 52mm wide. Ordinary forward-feed stitches have a maximum width of 9mm.

Does it connect to Wi-Fi?

Yes. It supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi for CREATIVATE connectivity, compatible updates and connected content. Core sewing remains available without a paid subscription; some optional online services or content may have separate CREATIVATE terms.

Does it have an automatic needle threader?

Yes. After following the indicated upper threading path, use the automatic push-lever needle-threading system to draw a loop through the needle eye. Correct needle position and compatible thread and needle sizes are still required.

Does it cut the threads automatically?

Yes. Auto-Snip cuts the top and bobbin threads at the end of suitable sewing. Some speciality techniques still call for manual thread handling.

Can I sew without the foot controller?

Yes. Use the start/stop control for suitable sewing and set a comfortable maximum with the speed slider. A foot controller is also supplied for conventional operation.

Is it suitable for free-motion quilting?

Yes. It provides Dynamic Spring, Spring, Ruler Foot and Sensormatic free-motion settings. The standard package includes Foot 6A for Sensormatic free motion; the other settings require an appropriate compatible foot. Disengage Original IDT before free-motion sewing.

Is a quarter-inch quilting foot included?

Yes. A ¼in Quilting Foot is included, together with an edge guide, straight-stitch plate and knee lift.

What does the straight-stitch plate sensor do?

When the included straight-stitch plate is fitted, the machine recognises it and prevents an incompatible side-to-side needle setting. This helps protect the needle and plate during straight-stitch piecing.

Can it sew denim, canvas or bag layers?

It can handle many suitable domestic denim, canvas and bag-making projects when correctly set up. Use the right needle, thread and foot, reduce speed at bulky transitions and never force the work. Very dense assemblies and continuous heavy production call for an appropriate industrial machine.

Can it sew knits?

Yes. Select an appropriate stretch stitch and fit a jersey, stretch or other suitable needle for the fabric. A sewing machine and overlocker make different seams and finishes, so some knit projects benefit from both.

Does it embroider designs in a hoop?

No. It offers extensive decorative sewing, lettering, Maxi stitches, sequences and Stitch Creator, but it is not a hoop-embroidery machine. Choose a compatible sewing-and-embroidery model if imported embroidery designs and hoops are required.

Is an extension table included?

Not in the manufacturer's standard list. An extension table may be available separately or included in a specific promotion, so check the live Direct Sewing offer rather than assuming it is part of the carton.

How large and heavy is the machine?

It measures approximately 571 x 220 x 307mm and has a net machine weight of approximately 11.5kg. Use a stable table and allow supported space around it for large projects.

Should I arrange a demonstration?

A demonstration is strongly worthwhile for a machine at this level. It lets you experience Original IDT, laser placement, the 8-inch screen, presser-foot recognition, Stitch Creator and free-motion setup while discussing training, delivery, the included package and current NZ warranty.
