The Original IDT integrated dual-feed system
Ordinary sewing machines feed fabric using feed dogs beneath the project. The Original IDT System adds synchronised feeding directly behind the presser foot.
Both layers are moved together from the top and bottom, helping reduce shifting, creeping and distortion without attaching a separate walking foot.
The IDT mechanism remains built into the machine and can be engaged or disengaged whenever the selected presser foot and technique require it.

The side-mounted USB connection allows compatible embroidery files to be transferred between a computer and the creative ambition 640.
Save personal designs to a compatible USB embroidery stick, insert it into the machine and open the design through embroidery mode.

Imported designs must use a compatible embroidery-file format and fit within the machine’s maximum 240 × 150mm embroidery field.
Introductory embroidery software access
The creative ambition 640 package includes access to introductory PC embroidery software, providing a starting point for viewing and preparing compatible designs.

Semi-automatic built-in needle threader
Follow the marked upper-thread path, lower the threading lever and guide the thread into the mechanism.
Releasing the lever draws a loop through the needle eye, reducing the close-up work required when changing thread colours or needles.
This is particularly useful during multicolour embroidery, where the upper thread may be changed repeatedly.
Twin-needle programme and stitch-width safety
Enter the size of the twin needle and the machine limits the available stitch width to help prevent the needles from striking the presser foot or needle plate.
Stitch-width safety can also lock the machine into a centre-position straight stitch when a straight-stitch foot or needle plate is being used.
Always confirm that the selected stitch, foot and needle plate are suitable for twin-needle sewing before operating the machine.
External feed-dog lowering
Lower the feed dogs using the conveniently positioned control at the rear of the free-arm area.
With the feed dogs lowered, the project can be moved manually for free-motion quilting, thread painting and darning.
Embroidery mode also uses automatic feed-dog lowering so the hoop can move freely beneath the needle.

Important information before purchasing
The PFAFF creative ambition 640 is a domestic computerised sewing and single-needle embroidery machine. It is not a commercial multi-needle embroidery machine.
Its maximum embroidery area is 240 × 150mm. Larger designs must be split, repositioned or reduced using suitable embroidery software and techniques.
The machine changes embroidery colours manually. It stops at each colour stage so the needle can be rethreaded.
USB transfer is used for compatible embroidery files. The creative ambition 640 does not have built-in Wi-Fi.
Good embroidery requires suitable stabiliser, embroidery thread, bobbin thread, needle choice and secure hooping.
The IDT System assists fabric feeding during sewing. It does not operate as a second needle or create an industrial compound-feed system.
The 200mm sewing space describes the room between the needle and machine tower. Attaching an optional extension table increases fabric support but does not increase the throat-space measurement.
