Helpful electronic controls that make sewing easier

The 260C handles common setup decisions for you while still allowing stitch length, width, speed and needle position to be adjusted for the project.

01

Direct stitch selection

Press the stitch icon on the front panel rather than searching through menus or turning a mechanical pattern dial.

02

Automatic stitch settings

The machine automatically sets a recommended stitch length and width when a stitch is selected. Both settings can then be adjusted.

03

Needle up/down

Choose whether the needle stops raised or in the fabric—particularly useful for pivoting, appliqué and controlled corner sewing.

04

Start/stop sewing

Sew using the machine’s start/stop button instead of the foot control when preferred, including for longer seams and decorative stitching.

05

Automatic tie-off

Press the tie-off button and the machine secures the stitching before stopping, helping produce a tidy and consistent seam finish.

06

Information display

The compact screen shows the selected stitch number and recommends the appropriate presser foot for the stitch.

Straightforward stitch selection

Choose the stitch and let the machine provide a starting point

Each stitch is clearly illustrated on the front of the machine. Press the matching button and the 260C selects a recommended stitch length and width, reducing the amount of setup required.

  • 27 utility, stretch and decorative stitches
  • One-step buttonhole
  • Automatic recommended length and width
  • Manual adjustment for personal control
  • Recommended presser foot shown on the display
  • Presser-foot-up safety warning

Control at your fingertips

Sew at a pace that feels comfortable

The speed slider allows the machine’s maximum sewing speed to be reduced for detailed areas, curves, beginners or techniques where steady control is more important than speed.

When you are ready, the 260C can sew at up to 750 stitches per minute.

Useful electronic functions

  • Adjustable speed slider
  • Start/stop button for sewing without the pedal
  • Programmable needle up/down
  • Automatic tie-off and stop
  • Electronic stitch selection
  • Safety warning when the presser foot is raised

PFAFF Smarter 260C frequently asked questions

Is the PFAFF Smarter 260C computerised?

Yes. The 260C is a computerised sewing machine with direct stitch selection, an information display and automatic recommended stitch settings.

Is the PFAFF 260C suitable for beginners?

Yes. Automatic stitch settings and direct selection simplify setup, while adjustable speed lets a beginner sew at a comfortable pace.

How many stitches does the PFAFF 260C have?

It includes 27 utility, stretch and decorative stitches, including a one-step buttonhole.

What does automatic stitch width and length mean?

When a stitch is selected, the machine automatically provides a recommended width and length. These settings can still be adjusted for the fabric or effect you want.

Can I sew without using the foot control?

Yes. The start/stop button allows the machine to sew without the foot control. The speed slider controls the maximum sewing speed.

What is needle up/down used for?

It lets you choose whether the needle stops raised or in the fabric. Stopping with the needle down helps maintain position while pivoting, turning corners or working on appliqué.

Does the PFAFF 260C cut the thread automatically?

No. The 260C has automatic tie-off, but its thread cutter is manual. The thread is cut using the cutter fitted to the machine.

Does the PFAFF 260C have automatic thread tension?

No. Upper-thread tension is adjusted manually, allowing it to be matched to the fabric, thread and stitch.

Does the PFAFF Smarter 260C have IDT?

No. The Smarter 260C does not include PFAFF’s Original IDT integrated dual-feed system. IDT is available on selected higher-level PFAFF machines.

Can I do free-motion sewing on the 260C?

Yes. The feed dogs can be lowered using the external control. A suitable optional free-motion foot and the correct technique are also required.

Can the PFAFF 260C sew heavier fabric?

The extra presser-foot lift helps with thicker domestic projects and layered seams. Use the correct needle and thread, and remember that the 260C is not an industrial or dedicated heavy-duty machine.

Which needles does the PFAFF 260C use?

It uses standard flat-shank domestic sewing-machine needles in the 130/705H system. Select the needle type and size for the fabric being sewn.

What is the difference between the PFAFF 260C and 160S?

The 260C is computerised and adds direct stitch selection, automatic settings, speed control, start/stop, needle up/down, automatic tie-off and an information display. The 160S is a simpler mechanical machine operated using rotary dials.

What local support is available?
