Quick change, careful hands
Replace the blade on a stable surface
The RTY-1/C uses a sliding clasp for quick blade release. Follow the cutter's own diagram, keep fingers away from the sharpened circumference and never change a rotary blade in the palm of your hand.
- Fully cover the existing blade before starting.
- Place the cutter blade-side down on a stable surface.
- Release the rear clasp as shown in the handle instructions.
- Handle each blade by the centre opening or flat face.
- Refit and secure the clasp, then confirm the guard works correctly.
- Return the used blade to a rigid container and follow local sharps-disposal guidance.
Replace the blade before extra pressure spoils the cut
Skipped fibres
Small joined sections or uncut threads along the line can signal a dull or nicked blade.
Repeated passes
If familiar fabric suddenly needs two passes, inspect the edge and the cutter assembly.
Dragged edges
More hand pressure, fabric movement or rough edges can mean the blade is ready to be changed.
Protect the new edge: cut on a proper self-healing mat, remove pins and clips from the full cutting path, and consider keeping a dedicated blade for fabric because paper and abrasive materials can shorten useful edge life.
