SEWMATE · EVERYDAY SEWING ESSENTIALS
Undo the stitches.
Keep the project moving.
A seam that needs adjusting. A hem to take down. A patchwork piece facing the wrong way. The SewMate Large Unpicker is the tool you reach for when a few stitches need a second chance.
At 13 cm long, this large-handled seam ripper gives you room to hold and guide the tool while lifting and cutting unwanted stitches. A clear protective cap covers the point between uses.
Small tool. Plenty of everyday uses.
Dressmaking & alterations
Open seams before changing a garment's fit, release hems for adjustments, or remove temporary tacking and basting stitches.
Repairs & mending
Take out old stitching around pockets, trims and worn seams before you repair or replace them.
Patchwork & quilting
Undo misplaced seams or incorrectly joined pieces so you can realign your patchwork and sew it again.
Unpick a little at a time
- Lift: slide the pointed tip beneath a stitch, keeping the fabric clear of the cutting notch.
- Cut: ease the thread into the notch and cut a few stitches at a time.
- Remove: gently pull away the loosened thread, then repeat along the seam.
Sewing tip: work slowly on fine or delicate fabrics rather than pushing the blade through a long section. Replace the cap after use and keep the sharp tool out of children's reach.
