Choose one size and receive five matching needles

This product page has a size selector. It is not the boxed multi-size Symfonie 2 DPN set. Your selection controls the diameter of all five needles in the pack.

Example: select 3.25mm / US 3

You receive five 15cm double pointed needles, each measuring 3.25mm in diameter. The pack does not contain five different sizes.

Many patterns arrange stitches across three or four holding needles and use the remaining needle to knit. A five-needle pack supports either common arrangement.

5

individual DPNs

One matching diameter, pointed at both ends, with no cable and no interchangeable connection.

Photography note: product images illustrate the Symfonie 2 DPN design and may show a different printed diameter. The size chosen in the product selector is the size supplied.
Symfonie, reimagined

What is new about Symfonie 2?

Symfonie 2 is KnitPro's new generation of its well-known laminated birchwood range. The DPNs retain the warm wood feel and controlled yarn movement many knitters choose wood for, while introducing a new seven-colour chevron design and precision size markings.

Seven-colour chevron

Green, yellow, orange, red, pink, purple and blue layers create the distinctive Symfonie 2 rainbow pattern.

Precision size marking

The needle diameter is clearly marked to help identify the pack between projects.

Polished laminated wood

The birchwood is layered for strength and finished to support smooth stitch movement with more surface grip than highly polished metal.

Correct name: KnitPro calls this new-generation collection Symfonie 2.

What are double pointed needles?

A cable-free way to knit a small tube

DPNs are pointed at both ends so stitches can be worked continuously around a small circumference. The live stitches are shared across several needles, while another needle works the next section.

Because there is no cable or fixed circular length to match, DPNs adapt naturally as a sock toe narrows, a sleeve begins at the cuff or a hat crown decreases.

Five needles, flexible arrangement

Patterns commonly distribute stitches across three or four needles. The fourth or fifth needle then works the stitches. Follow the pattern's preferred setup.

Small rounds, neat possibilities

Projects that suit 15cm DPNs

Socks

Work cuffs, legs, heels and shaped toes without changing to a cable-based method.

Mittens

Manage small hand circumferences, thumbs and top shaping with compact needles.

Sleeves

Begin at narrow cuffs or finish top-down sleeves as the pattern directs.

Hat crowns

Move from a circular needle to DPNs when decreases make the circumference too small.

Baby knits

Create small sleeves, legs, hats and other suitable seamless details.

Capacity matters: 15cm needles are deliberately compact. For a large number of stitches, a wider tube or a heavier project, longer DPNs or a circular method may feel more secure.

Choose for gauge, not only yarn weight: start with the pattern's metric needle size, knit a useful swatch and adjust if your measured gauge requires it. Sock, 4 ply, DK and worsted labels do not determine one universal needle size.
Is the 15cm length right for you?

Compact control with a practical limit

A particularly good choice if you...

  • Knit socks, mittens, sleeves or baby garments
  • Prefer DPNs to magic loop for small rounds
  • Want enough needles for a four- or five-DPN arrangement
  • Prefer the controlled movement of polished wood
  • Want compact needles for a portable project
  • Need a replacement or additional size rather than a multi-size set

Consider another format if you...

  • Want several sizes together in a storage case
  • Need more shaft length for many live stitches
  • Prefer one long circular for magic loop
  • Want a fixed small-circumference circular
  • Prefer the faster glide of highly polished metal
  • Need a needle diameter outside 2.25mm to 5.00mm
Choose the small-circumference method that suits you

DPNs, magic loop or a short circular?

This product

15cm double pointed needles

Five separate needles, no cable and no fixed minimum circumference. Especially adaptable through toes, thumbs and crown decreases.

Magic loop

Uses one long flexible circular needle. It keeps all stitches on one tool but requires the cable loops to be repositioned as you work.

Short circular

Uses one compact fixed circular. It can be quick for an even tube, but its circumference must suit the project and decreases may still need another method.

No method is universally best: the right choice depends on your hand position, project circumference, stitch count, yarn and pattern construction.
A calm start with five needles

Four practical steps for using DPNs

Cast on and divide

Cast on the pattern's stitch count, then distribute the stitches evenly across three or four needles.

Check the round

Lay the needles down and confirm the cast-on edge is not twisted before joining to work in the round.

Knit with the free needle

Work across one holding needle at a time. The emptied needle becomes the working needle for the next section.

Manage the joins

Snug the first stitches at each change and occasionally shift the change points if visible ladders begin to form.

Simple care for laminated birchwood

Keep the points smooth and the set together

Keep clean and dry

Wipe with a soft dry cloth. Do not soak wooden needles or use harsh household cleaners.

Store all five safely

Return the complete pack to a needle case or sleeve so the points and size marking are protected.

Inspect before use

Do not continue with a needle that has become cracked, deeply roughened or damaged at a point.

Questions before choosing your size?

KnitPro Symfonie 2 15cm DPN FAQs

How many needles do I receive?

You receive five individual double pointed needles in the one size selected on this product page.

Does the pack contain five different sizes?

No. All five needles have the same diameter. For example, selecting 3.25mm supplies five 3.25mm needles.

Is this the boxed multi-size Symfonie 2 DPN set?

No. This listing lets you buy one five-needle pack in your chosen size. The boxed multi-size sets are separate products.

What is the correct range name?

KnitPro's customer-facing collection name is Symfonie 2. The existing product-page address can stay unchanged.

What does DPN mean?

DPN means double pointed needle. Each rigid needle has a working point at both ends, allowing stitches to be worked continuously around a small tube.

Why are five needles included?

Some patterns hold stitches on three needles and knit with a fourth, while others hold stitches on four and knit with a fifth. A five-needle pack supports both arrangements.

Are these needles 15cm long?

Yes. Each individual needle is approximately 15cm / 6in long.

Which sizes are available?

The current selector covers 2.25mm through 5.00mm in ten metric sizes. Check the selector for the sizes currently available to order.

What are the needles made from?

They are made from laminated birchwood in the seven-colour Symfonie 2 chevron pattern.

Are the size markings printed on the needles?

Symfonie 2 uses precision size identification. Keep the set together and use a needle gauge if a marking ever becomes difficult to read.

Are these good for socks?

Yes. The compact 15cm length is well suited to many sock patterns. Choose the metric diameter required to achieve the pattern gauge.

Can I use them for sleeves and hats?

Yes. They are useful for narrow sleeves and for hat crowns once decreases make a circular needle too long for ordinary rounds.

Can beginners use DPNs?

Yes, although managing several needles can take a little practice. Start slowly, keep unused needle points resting against the work and follow a pattern or tutorial that shows how to divide the stitches.

How do I reduce ladders between needles?

Keep even tension at each needle change, snug the first one or two stitches and occasionally move the change point so it does not remain in the same column.

Does the photographed size determine what I receive?

No. The product photographs are representative. The variant selected in the size menu determines the diameter supplied.

How should I choose a needle size for my yarn?

Use the pattern's metric recommendation as your starting point, then make a swatch and adjust the diameter if needed to achieve gauge and the fabric you want.

How should I care for the needles?

Keep them clean and dry, avoid soaking and harsh cleaners, protect the points in storage and do not use a needle that has become cracked or rough.
