Up to 1,650 stitches per minute
Complete long seams, quilt sections and production work efficiently, with a speed control slider that lets you set a comfortable maximum speed for each project.
Built for sewists who demand speed, strength and exceptional straight-stitch quality, the Janome HD9 QC Professional brings focused, professional-level performance to quilting, dressmaking, bag making, home décor and serious creative production.
The HD9 QC Professional is not a general-purpose machine filled with decorative stitches you may never use. It is a specialised flat-bed machine engineered to produce one outstanding straight stitch with impressive speed, control and consistency.
Its rigid painted aluminium construction, industrial-style vertical full rotary hook and smooth high-speed operation make it an excellent choice for quilters, garment makers, bag makers, sewing studios and small creative businesses.
From accurate quilt piecing and long garment seams to visible topstitching on denim, canvas and leather craft projects, the HD9 QC Professional helps experienced makers work efficiently while maintaining the control required for refined results.

Raise the presser foot slightly while sewing to help fabric move smoothly around curves, across bulky intersections and through multiple layers.
The rigid die-cast aluminium frame provides the stability required for accurate stitching and smooth operation at higher sewing speeds.
The large metal bobbin holds approximately 40% more thread than a standard sewing machine bobbin, reducing interruptions during larger projects.
A dedicated adjustable thread guide supports heavier threads, helping create bold, controlled topstitching on suitable denim, canvas and leather craft projects.
Wind a fresh bobbin while the machine remains threaded, helping maintain an efficient workflow without repeatedly unthreading your machine.
Trim the upper and bobbin threads at the press of a button. A remote thread cutter port is also provided for compatible optional operation.
Bright LED lighting illuminates the work area from two locations, with adjustable brightness controls positioned behind the opening face cover.
The generous 229mm wide by 150mm high area to the right of the needle provides room to manage quilts, bags, garments and larger fabric sections.
Its flat-bed configuration creates a stable work surface, while the supplied extra-wide extension table supports the weight of larger projects and helps prevent fabric from pulling away from the needle.
Floating Mode allows you to fine-tune the height of the presser foot so it sits slightly above the fabric while the feed dogs continue moving the project.
This is particularly useful when sewing around curves, working with speciality fabrics, crossing thick seam intersections or guiding layered quilting projects. The fabric can move more naturally while still receiving the control needed for an accurate straight stitch.
The HD9 QC Professional gives you practical controls that reduce unnecessary hand movements and help maintain accurate fabric positioning.
Raise and lower the presser foot with your knee while keeping both hands on the project. This is especially useful for piecing, pivoting and managing large fabric sections.
Select whether the needle stops raised or lowered. Leaving the needle down makes it easier to pivot accurately or pause without losing your position.
Control the machine smoothly from the first stitch, while the speed slider limits the maximum speed available when the controller is fully depressed.
Adjust the straight stitch from fine construction work through to longer topstitching, with forward and reverse stitching available up to 6mm.
The Janome HD9 QC Professional is a dedicated straight stitch machine. It does not sew zigzag, stretch, buttonhole or decorative stitches.
It has a professional high-speed design and an industrial-style rotary hook, but it is not a compound-feed or walking-foot industrial machine. For very thick, dense or difficult materials, speak with our team so we can help confirm the most suitable machine.
The included selection gives quilters and serious sewists the equipment needed for piecing, straight stitching, even feeding, stitch-in-the-ditch work and free-motion quilting.

The HD9 QC Professional has a heavy-duty metal body, high sewing speed and an industrial-style vertical full rotary hook. However, it is a professional household straight stitch machine rather than a table-mounted industrial compound-feed or walking-foot machine.
No. The HD9 QC Professional is completely dedicated to straight stitching. This focused design is one of the reasons it can deliver such fast, smooth and accurate performance.
Yes. It includes an extra-wide table, adjustable knee lifter, drop feed, even feed foot, 1/4-inch seam foot, ditch quilting foot and convertible free-motion quilting feet.
It is designed to work with a wide range of fabrics and supports heavier threads for visible topstitching. Suitability depends on the total thickness, density, seam construction, needle, thread and presser foot being used. Testing on a sample is recommended.
Janome advises using the manual thread cutter on the face cover when working with thread thicker than size #30. Follow the instruction manual when selecting and cutting heavier threads.
The HD9 QC Professional uses the HLx5 needle system. Select the needle size to suit the fabric and thread being used.
Yes. The Australia and New Zealand accessory package includes the extra-wide extension table as standard.
The side-loading jumbo metal bobbin holds approximately 40% more thread than a regular sewing machine bobbin, making it particularly useful for longer seams and quilting projects.
