More creativity without moving to an embroidery machine

A powerful all-rounder for garments, quilting and personalised sewing

The Janome DM7200 is designed for sewists who want a large selection of stitches, built-in lettering and modern convenience features without moving into a much larger premium machine.

It offers the same practical 170 × 110mm workspace and portable 6.4kg body as the DC6050, but expands the creative package to 200 stitches, an alphabet, 14 buttonhole styles and stitch-combination memory.

Automatic thread cutting, adjustable foot pressure, needle up or down, speed control and a seven-piece feed system make it equally capable for garment construction, decorative sewing, patchwork and general home projects.

05

Automatic thread cutter

Cut the upper and bobbin threads together at the touch of a button.

06

Six pressure levels

Adapt the presser-foot pressure to delicate fabrics, knits, everyday cottons and layered projects.

07

Seven-piece feed system

Broad fabric contact helps reduce slipping, shifting and puckering beneath the foot.

08

Extra-wide table included

Support patchwork, quilting, home décor and longer garment sections across a broader surface.

200 Built-in stitches plus alphabet

Utility sewing, stretch seams, quilting, appliqué, satin stitching, heirloom techniques, decorative patterns and personalised lettering are all built into the machine.

A much larger creative library

Go well beyond basic utility sewing

The DM7200 provides a broad selection for everyday construction and more decorative projects.

The quick-reference chart shows every stitch and lettering mode, while the LCD displays the active stitch number, recommended foot, width and length.

  • Utility stitches
  • Stretch stitches
  • Quilting patterns
  • Appliqué stitches
  • Satin patterns
  • Heirloom stitches
  • Decorative motifs
  • Alphabet characters
Personalisation without embroidery software

Built-in alphabet and monogramming

Select letters, numbers and symbols directly from the machine and combine them into a memorised sequence.

This is ideal for sewing names, dates, quilt labels, laundry labels, initials and short messages.

Characters are formed as decorative sewing stitches rather than embroidery designs, so no hoop, computer or embroidery software is required.

Popular uses

  • Quilt labels
  • Children’s names
  • Initials
  • Dates
  • Fabric labels
  • Short messages
  • Personalised gifts
  • Creative borders

Important lettering clarification

The DM7200 creates lettering using the sewing mechanism. It does not produce filled embroidery lettering like a dedicated embroidery machine.

Letter size and appearance are determined by the built-in sewing font and available stitch settings. Custom fonts and downloaded embroidery designs cannot be imported.

Create and repeat customised stitch sequences

Built-in combination memory

Combine compatible decorative stitches, letters, numbers and symbols into sequences of up to approximately 50 characters.

Add a thread-cutting instruction to the stored sequence so the machine cuts the threads after completing the programmed combination.

Letter sequences

Combine names, words, initials, dates and numbers.

Decorative borders

Repeat compatible motifs in a planned order.

Mixed combinations

Combine lettering and decorative patterns where supported.

Automatic finishing

Add locking and thread-cutting instructions to suitable sequences.

The machine has limited working memory for stitch combinations. It does not provide permanent external storage, USB transfer or downloadable stitch files.

An exceptional buttonhole selection

Fourteen automatic one-step buttonholes

The DM7200 offers a much wider choice of buttonhole styles than most machines in its class.

Place the button into Automatic Buttonhole Foot R and the machine uses it as a guide for the required length.

The supplied stabiliser plate supports the buttonhole foot and fabric together, helping improve results on layered, uneven or difficult garment areas.

  • Fourteen built-in styles
  • Automatic one-step sewing
  • Button-sized measurement
  • Garment buttonholes
  • Stretch-fabric buttonholes
  • Decorative buttonholes
  • Automatic Buttonhole Foot R
  • Stabiliser plate included
Cleaner finishing at the touch of a button

Automatic upper and bobbin thread cutting

Press the cutter button and the machine trims both threads together.

The upper thread is drawn towards the underside of the project for a cleaner finish.

The cutter can also be incorporated into suitable memorised stitch sequences.

Where it saves time

  • Patchwork piecing
  • Repeated seams
  • Decorative borders
  • Lettering sequences
  • Garment construction
  • Reducing loose thread tails
Adapt the machine to different fabrics

Six levels of presser-foot pressure

Presser-foot pressure controls how firmly the fabric is held against the feed dogs.

The six-level adjustment makes the DM7200 more adaptable than machines with a fixed pressure setting.

Sheer materials

Reduce pressure to help prevent marking and puckering.

Stretch knits

Coordinate reduced pressure with the correct stretch stitch and needle.

Everyday cotton

Use a standard pressure setting for general construction sewing.

Layered projects

Adjust pressure for bags, denim, fleece and quilted sections.

Consistent movement beneath the foot

Seven-piece Superior Plus feed system

Seven feed-dog sections maintain broad contact with the underside of the project.

This helps move lightweight fabric, stretch materials, standard woven cloth and layered projects consistently beneath the foot.

The feed system works with the adjustable presser-foot pressure to help reduce slipping, shifting and puckering.

A compatible Janome even-feed foot can be added separately for quilt sandwiches, checks, stripes and other projects that benefit from upper feeding.

Practical space for everyday projects

170 × 110mm workspace with extension table

The DM7200 provides approximately 170mm of width and 110mm of height to the right of the needle.

Fit the supplied half-size extension table when sewing quilt blocks, curtains, bags, larger garment pieces or home décor.

Remove the accessory compartment to reveal the free arm for sleeves, cuffs, trouser hems and tubular projects.

  • 170mm workspace width
  • 110mm workspace height
  • Extension table included
  • Free arm
  • Accessory storage compartment
  • Hard cover included
170mm Workspace to the right of the needle

A practical size for garment sewing, patchwork, appliqué, home décor and light quilting without making the machine difficult to carry or store.

Computerised controls within easy reach

Control speed, needle position and seam finishing

Start and stop

Sew without the foot controller and hold the button for slower starts or finishes.

Speed-control slider

Limit maximum sewing speed for beginners, curves and detail work.

Needle up or down

Choose whether the needle stops raised or securely lowered.

Automatic lock-off

Secure compatible stitches at the touch of a button.

Reverse sewing

Reinforce standard construction seams with the dedicated reverse control.

Automatic cutting

Trim the upper and bobbin threads without reaching for scissors.

Clear information before you begin sewing

Backlit LCD screen and direct-selection keys

The LCD provides the key information needed to set up the selected stitch correctly.

  • Selected stitch number
  • Recommended presser foot
  • Default stitch width
  • Default stitch length
  • Active lettering mode
  • Memory and combination information

Frequently used utility stitches can be selected directly from the control panel, while the complete stitch library is displayed on the quick-reference chart.

Fast and straightforward preparation

Easy Set top-loading bobbin

Place the bobbin into the horizontal rotary hook, follow the marked threading channel and pass the thread through the built-in cutter.

The clear cover allows the remaining bobbin thread to be monitored while sewing.

Once correctly loaded, the machine can begin sewing without manually drawing the bobbin thread through the needle plate.

  • Top-loading bobbin
  • Easy Set threading route
  • Built-in bobbin-thread cutter
  • Clear cover
  • Full rotary hook
  • Janome plastic bobbins
Useful guides built into the sewing bed

Precision needle-plate markings

The needle plate includes seam guides, angle markings and reference points positioned in front of the presser foot.

These markings support accurate seam allowances, patchwork piecing, cornering and fabric alignment.

Seam guides

Follow common seam allowances without attaching a separate guide.

Angle marks

Support patchwork, mitred corners and directional sewing.

Front references

Align the fabric before it reaches the needle and foot.

Needle-position guides

Identify where the needle will enter for different stitch settings.

A capable patchwork and light-quilting package

Accurate piecing with room to grow

1/4-inch Seam Foot O

The supplied foot helps maintain consistent patchwork seam allowances.

Extension table

Support quilt blocks and larger fabric sections across a wider surface.

Needle-down function

Stop with the needle lowered when pivoting or repositioning.

Drop feed

Lower the feed dogs for darning or free-motion quilting with an optional foot.

Automatic cutter

Reduce loose thread tails during repeated patchwork piecing.

Decorative quilting stitches

Add creative detail to quilt labels, borders, appliqué and smaller projects.

The DM7200 is suited to patchwork, appliqué, straight-line quilting and smaller free-motion projects. It does not include an even-feed foot or free-motion foot as standard.
