Automatic thread cutter
Cut the upper and bobbin threads together at the touch of a button for faster, tidier finishing.
Enjoy easier garment sewing, patchwork, quilting and creative projects with one of Janome New Zealand’s most popular computerised machines. The DC6050 combines 50 stitches, three one-step buttonholes, automatic thread cutting, adjustable foot pressure and an included extension table in a stable yet portable machine.
The DC6050 is suited to sewists who want more control and convenience than a basic machine without moving into a large premium model.
It offers direct access to everyday utility stitches, a clear LCD screen, adjustable speed, automatic thread cutting and memorised needle positioning.
Six levels of presser-foot pressure allow the machine to be adapted to delicate fabric, stretch materials, everyday woven cloth and thicker layered projects.
Its rigid die-cast aluminium internal frame supports stable sewing at speeds up to 820 stitches per minute, while the 6.4kg body remains practical to carry to classes or store between projects.
The DC6050 arrives with a useful selection of garment, patchwork and general-sewing feet, along with a half-size extension table and rigid machine cover.
Cut the upper and bobbin threads together at the touch of a button for faster, tidier finishing.
Choose utility, stretch, appliqué, quilting, heirloom, satin and decorative patterns.
Create repeatable buttonholes using Automatic Buttonhole Foot R and the included stabiliser plate.
Adapt how firmly the foot holds delicate, stretch, woven and heavier materials.
Broad fabric contact helps reduce slipping, puckering and shifting beneath the foot.
Drop the bobbin into place, follow the threading channel and begin without drawing up the bobbin thread.
Reduce the close-up work required to guide the upper thread through the needle eye.
Support patchwork, quilts, curtains and longer garment sections across a broader surface.
The machine provides approximately 170mm of width and 110mm of height to the right of the needle.
Fit the included table when working with quilt blocks, bags, curtains, garments or projects that benefit from additional support.
Remove the front accessory compartment to reveal a free arm approximately 90mm long from the needle.
Press the cutter button and the machine trims the upper and bobbin threads together.
The upper thread is drawn towards the underside of the project for a cleaner finish.
The cutter can also be programmed to operate after compatible stitches have been locked off, reducing repetitive thread trimming during patchwork and construction sewing.
The DC6050 includes everyday utility stitches alongside stretch, appliqué, heirloom, satin, quilting and decorative patterns.
Four direct-selection keys provide immediate access to frequently used stitches, while the remaining patterns are selected through the computerised control panel.
The LCD shows the active stitch, recommended presser foot, stitch width and stitch length.
Presser-foot pressure determines how firmly the fabric is held against the feed dogs.
The DC6050 provides six levels of adjustment, giving the operator greater control than machines with a fixed pressure setting.
Reduce pressure to help prevent marking, puckering and fabric distortion.
Coordinate lower pressure with the correct stretch stitch and needle.
Use a standard setting for cotton, linen and general garment sewing.
Adjust pressure when sewing denim, bags, fleece or quilted sections.
Seven feed-dog sections maintain broad contact with the underside of the project.
This supports smoother movement through lightweight fabric, stretch materials, standard woven cloth and layered projects.
The feed-dog system works together with the adjustable foot pressure to help reduce unwanted slipping, shifting and puckering.
For quilt sandwiches, checks, stripes or particularly difficult layered projects, a compatible Janome even-feed foot can be added separately.
Place the button into the rear of Automatic Buttonhole Foot R and the machine uses it as a guide for the required buttonhole length.
The supplied stabiliser plate supports the fabric and buttonhole foot together, helping improve results on uneven, layered or difficult areas.
Sew without the foot controller and hold the button for slower starts or finishes.
Limit maximum sewing speed for beginners, curves and detailed work.
Choose whether the needle stops raised or securely lowered in the fabric.
Secure compatible stitches at the touch of a button.
Reinforce ordinary construction seams using the dedicated reverse control.
Trim the upper and bobbin threads together without reaching for scissors.
The supplied foot helps maintain consistent patchwork seam allowances.
Support quilt blocks and larger project sections across a broader surface.
Stop with the needle in the project when pivoting or repositioning.
Lower the feed dogs for darning or free-motion quilting with an optional foot.
Reduce loose thread tails during repeated patchwork piecing.
Add upper feeding for quilt sandwiches, checks, stripes and layered materials.
The DC6050 is suitable for patchwork, appliqué, straight-line quilting and smaller free-motion projects. It does not include an even-feed foot or free-motion foot as standard.
The accessory package supports garment construction, zip insertion, blind hemming, overcasting, decorative sewing, patchwork and automatic buttonholes.
The extension table provides added support while the hard cover protects the machine during storage or transport.
Additional compatible feet can be added later as your sewing interests expand.
