Take homemade garments to a professional finish

The machine designed for hems, bindings and activewear

The CoverPro 3000 Professional complements your sewing machine and overlocker by completing the specialist finishing techniques those machines cannot reproduce.

Use it to create the parallel rows of stitching commonly seen on T-shirt sleeves, knit hems, sportswear, leggings and commercially manufactured garments.

Unlike a standard coverstitch machine, the CoverPro 3000 can also lay decorative thread across the top surface of the fabric. This creates a highly visible top cover stitch with industrial-style coverage on both sides of the project.

Its flat-bed design feels similar to a conventional sewing machine and provides useful workspace to the right of the needles for hemming, binding and decorative stitching away from a raw edge.

Why the CoverPro 3000 stands out

Advanced coverstitch performance without industrial complexity

01

Built-in top cover guide

Lower the integrated guide and spreader into position without fitting a separate external assembly.

02

Five-thread sewing

Use three needles, the looper and top-cover thread for full triple top cover stitching.

03

Three-position threader

Select the left, centre or right needle and use the built-in mechanism to thread it.

04

Fine Mode

Switch to a preset fine-fabric tension mode for lightweight and highly stretchable materials.

05

Differential feed

Adjust fabric movement from 0.5 to 2.25 to help control waving, stretching and puckering.

06

Eight-piece feed dog

Broad contact beneath the project supports smoother feeding through fine and heavier fabrics.

07

Retractable HighLight

Pull out the dedicated LED light to illuminate the needles and stitch formation closely.

08

Free-arm conversion

Remove the extension section to hem sleeves, leggings and other narrow tubular areas.

The defining CoverPro 3000 feature

Built-in top cover stitch guide and spreader

The top cover mechanism is stored inside the machine and moves into position with a simple lever operation.

Thread passes through the spreader above the fabric, laying a decorative woven effect across the needle stitches.

When top cover stitching is finished, release the mechanism and retract it back into the machine.

Seven professional finishing configurations

Cover, top cover and chain stitches

Triple top cover stitch

Three needle lines, top decorative coverage and lower-looper coverage using five threads.

Wide double top cover stitch

Two needle lines spaced 6mm apart with decorative top and lower coverage.

Narrow double top cover stitch

Two needle lines spaced 3mm apart with decorative top and lower coverage.

Triple cover stitch

Three parallel needle lines with broad lower-looper coverage beneath the fabric.

Wide double cover stitch

Two parallel needle lines spaced 6mm apart with flexible looper coverage underneath.

Narrow double cover stitch

Two parallel needle lines spaced 3mm apart for narrower hems and decorative work.

Single chain stitch

One needle and one looper form a strong, flexible stitch for seams, basting and decoration.

More than an ordinary cover hem

Why top cover stitching matters

A conventional coverstitch shows straight needle lines on top and looper coverage underneath. Top cover stitching adds decorative coverage to the upper surface as well.

Activewear styling

Create commercially inspired decorative seams on leggings and sports garments.

Visible seam detail

Make the coverstitch part of the garment design rather than hiding it inside.

Colour contrast

Use contrasting top-cover thread to highlight seams, bindings and panels.

Balanced coverage

Achieve decorative thread formation on both the upper and lower fabric surfaces.

Fine and standard fabric mode switch on the Janome CoverPro 3000
Select FINE for lightweight stretch materials or STD for standard and heavier fabrics.
Move between fabric weights more confidently

Fine Mode switching lever

Fine Mode changes the machine’s internal looper-tension relationship for lightweight and highly stretchable materials.

Move the lever to FINE when sewing light jersey, fine knits and other delicate fabrics. Use STD for standard knit fabrics, woven materials and heavier projects.

This reduces the amount of trial-and-error tension adjustment normally required when moving between significantly different fabric weights.

  • Fine jersey
  • Lightweight stretch fabric
  • Lingerie fabrics
  • Rayon knits
  • Standard cotton jersey
  • Fleece and heavier knits
Three needles made easier

Built-in left, centre and right needle threader

Move the selection slider to the needle being used, lower the threader and guide the thread through the hook.

The mechanism can thread the left, centre or right needle depending on the chosen stitch configuration.

A separate handy needle threader is also included with the standard accessories.

Control the way stretch fabric feeds

Differential feed from 0.5 to 2.25

Differential feed changes the relationship between the front and rear feed dogs.

Increase the setting when knit fabric becomes wavy or stretches as it passes beneath the foot. Reduce the setting when lightweight fabric puckers or when a deliberately stretched decorative effect is required.

Jersey hems

Help prevent rippling around T-shirt sleeves and lower hems.

Activewear

Control highly elastic materials used in leggings and sports garments.

Fine fabrics

Reduce unwanted puckering on lightweight and delicate materials.

Decorative effects

Create stretched or gathered effects where the project requires them.

Match the foot pressure to the material

Adjustable presser-foot pressure

The adjustment dial changes how firmly the presser foot holds the fabric against the feed dogs.

Reduce pressure for delicate, stretchy or easily marked fabrics. Increase pressure when additional contact is required through firmer or layered projects.

Guide markings around the pressure control provide a useful reference when returning to a previous setting.

A flat-bed layout with practical working room

143 × 100mm workspace to the right of the needles

The CoverPro layout places the needles towards the left side of a flat sewing bed rather than at the edge of an overlocker-style body.

This provides room to stitch hems, decorative lines and bindings within the body of a garment or project.

  • 143mm workspace width
  • 100mm workspace height
  • Flat sewing surface
  • Useful for decorative top stitching
  • Optional extra-wide table available
  • Accessory mounting points
Reach narrow garment areas

Convertible free arm

Remove the extension section to expose the narrower free-arm sewing area.

Tubular garment pieces can then pass around the arm rather than being flattened across the full sewing bed.

  • Sleeve hems
  • Legging hems
  • Children’s garments
  • Necklines
  • Cuffs
  • Narrow tubular projects

The free arm makes narrow sleeves and garment openings easier to position.
Three-point LED lighting

Retractable HighLight over the needle area

Two built-in LED areas illuminate the bed and needle zone during ordinary sewing.

Pull out the additional HighLight to direct concentrated illumination onto the needles and top cover mechanism.

Improved visibility helps when aligning hems, threading the machine and checking stitch formation.

More flexible ways to finish a seam

Thread chain-off capability

Triple cover stitch and top cover stitch can continue forming a thread chain after leaving the fabric.

This provides an alternative to pulling each needle thread individually through the project before tying or securing the seam.

The correct ending method depends on the selected stitch, thread and project. The instruction manual explains chain-off and conventional thread-securing methods in detail.

Smooth performance through a wide fabric range

Ball-bearing main shaft and eight-piece feeding

Janome uses ball bearings on the main drive shaft to reduce vibration and support smoother operation.

The eight-piece feed dog maintains broad contact with the project, helping the machine move from fine knits through to fleece, woollens and garment-weight denim.

These features support consistent stitch formation at speeds up to 1,000 stitches per minute.

Important information before purchasing

The CoverPro 3000 Professional is a dedicated coverstitch and chain-stitch machine. It is not a conventional sewing machine and does not sew straight stitches, zigzags, buttonholes or decorative sewing-machine patterns.

It is not an overlocker and does not trim fabric with cutting knives. An overlocker is still required for trimming and wrapping raw garment edges.

The CoverPro 3000 is manually threaded. It does not have air threading or automatic tension.

Thread tension is manually controlled through five lay-in tension dials. Fine Mode assists with lightweight fabrics but does not replace correct threading, needles, thread and test sewing.

It is a domestic professional-style machine intended for garment making and creative sewing rather than continuous industrial production.

Frequently asked questions

Janome CoverPro 3000 FAQ

What is a coverstitch machine used for?

A coverstitch machine creates flexible professional hems, bindings, elastic applications and decorative seams, particularly on knit and stretch garments.

What makes the CoverPro 3000 different from an ordinary coverstitch machine?

It adds a built-in top cover stitch guide and spreader, allowing decorative thread coverage to be formed on the upper fabric surface as well as underneath.

How many needles and threads can it use?

It can sew with one, two or three needles and with two, three, four or five threads depending on the selected stitch.

Can it sew a normal cover hem?

Yes. It creates triple cover stitches, wide and narrow double cover stitches and single chain stitches in addition to top cover stitches.

Does it have a built-in needle threader?

Yes. The selector allows the mechanism to thread the left, centre or right needle.

What does Fine Mode do?

Fine Mode softens the looper-tension relationship for lightweight and highly stretchable fabrics, helping improve stitch formation with less manual adjustment.

Does it have differential feed?

Yes. Differential feed is adjustable from 0.5 to 2.25 to help manage waving, stretching and puckering.

Does it have adjustable presser-foot pressure?

Yes. The pressure control includes guide markings to help repeat previous settings.

Can it sew lightweight fabric?

Yes. Fine Mode, adjustable foot pressure, differential feed and suitable EL×705 needles help the machine handle lightweight knits and woven fabrics.

Can it sew fleece and denim?

It can sew fleece, woollens and ordinary garment-weight denim when correctly threaded and fitted with an appropriate EL×705 needle. It is not an industrial heavy-production machine.

Does it have a free arm?

Yes. Remove the extension section to hem sleeves, leggings and other narrow tubular projects.

Does it trim the fabric edge?

No. The CoverPro 3000 does not have overlocker cutting knives. The fabric edge should be prepared before coverstitching.

Is it an overlocker?

No. An overlocker trims and wraps raw edges. The CoverPro creates professional hems, chain stitches and top cover stitching.

Can it replace a normal sewing machine?

No. It does not sew standard lockstitches, zigzags, buttonholes or ordinary sewing-machine patterns.

Does it have air threading?

No. It uses conventional colour-coded threading with lay-in tension guides and a built-in needle threader.

Is an extension table included?

The removable standard bed section is included and converts to the free arm. A larger extra-wide accessory table is available separately.

What needles does it use?

It uses EL×705 coverstitch needles. The standard package includes three size 80/12 and two size 90/14 needles.

What is the difference between the CoverPro 3000 and CoverPro 2000CPX?

The CoverPro 3000 adds built-in top cover stitching, five-thread capability, a three-position needle threader, Fine Mode, chain-off capability and three-point LED lighting with a retractable HighLight.
