Woven garment construction

Use the sharp selection as a starting point for suitable woven fabrics. Test across the same number of layers as the finished seam.

Sewing knitted fabric

The ballpoint selection offers a different tip for working between knit loops. Assess the seam for holes, laddering or skipped stitches before production.

Fine-to-heavier cloth

The size selection covers material and thread combinations. Record successful settings so repeat jobs begin with the right needle.

Before you start

  1. Check the machine’s complete needle system and size range. Choose the point and size for your fabric and thread.
  2. Switch off and isolate the machine as instructed. Install the needle fully, in the orientation specified by the manual.
  3. Sew a sample with the intended layers and thread. Check stitch formation and fabric marking before continuing.

DBx1 and DPx5 are different needle systems, even when the same size number is offered. These are not general domestic flat-shank replacement needles.

Good to know

Is the sharp option a leather needle?

No leather-cutting point is specified here. A cloth-point needle and a dedicated leather-cutting point should not be treated as the same product.

Why is 110/18 missing from Ballpoint?

The ballpoint selection here runs to 100/16. Choose only a size and point shown together in the product options.
