50 built-in stitches
Choose utility, stretch, overedge, appliqué, quilting and decorative stitch patterns.
Enjoy smooth, uncomplicated computerised sewing with the features needed for garments, patchwork, quilting and creative home projects. The Elna eXperience 550 combines 50 stitches, three automatic buttonholes, adjustable foot pressure, speed control and an included extension table in one highly versatile machine.
The eXperience 550 is designed for sewists who want more convenience and fabric control than an entry-level machine without moving into a large premium model.
Choose from 50 utility, stretch, quilting and decorative stitches using the electronic controls. The LCD screen displays the selected stitch, recommended presser foot, stitch width and stitch length.
Start/stop sewing, adjustable maximum speed, automatic lock stitch and needle up/down place the most frequently used sewing functions directly beside the needle area.
Adjustable presser-foot pressure and a seven-piece feed system help the machine work across fine fabrics, stretch materials, everyday woven cloth and layered projects.
The eXperience 550 includes a useful package for garment construction, patchwork, decorative sewing, automatic buttonholes and general home projects.
Choose utility, stretch, overedge, appliqué, quilting and decorative stitch patterns.
Create automatically sized buttonholes using the included buttonhole foot and stabiliser plate.
Adapt how firmly the presser foot holds delicate, stretch, woven and layered fabrics.
Broad contact beneath the fabric helps maintain smooth and consistent feeding.
Reduce the close-up work required to pass the upper thread through the needle eye.
Operate the machine without the foot controller when direct hand control is preferred.
Limit maximum sewing speed for beginners, curves, appliqué and detailed work.
Support patchwork, quilting, home décor and longer garment sections on a broader surface.
A balanced selection for garment construction, stretch fabrics, patchwork, appliqué, edge finishing and decorative sewing.
The eXperience 550 offers more creative flexibility than a basic machine while keeping stitch selection easy to understand.
Four frequently used stitches can be selected directly from the front panel. The remaining patterns are selected using the electronic navigation controls.
The backlit screen provides the main information needed to prepare the selected stitch.
Confirm the selected pattern before sewing.
See which included presser foot is intended for the stitch.
View and adjust the width up to 7mm.
View and adjust the length up to 5mm.
A pull-out stitch reference chart is stored on the right side of the machine, keeping the full stitch selection close at hand.
The main sewing controls are positioned close to the needle area, allowing them to be used while the project remains under control.
Sew without the foot controller, slow the machine for detailed work, stop with the needle in the fabric and secure compatible stitches using the automatic lock function.
Presser-foot pressure controls how firmly the project is held against the feed dogs.
Reduce pressure for delicate, stretch or easily distorted materials. Increase pressure where firmer contact is needed through stable or layered fabrics.
Help limit marking and puckering on lightweight materials.
Reduce unwanted stretching when combined with a suitable stitch and needle.
Use a standard setting for cotton, linen and garment sewing.
Adapt the pressure for bags, quilted sections and thicker seams.
Seven feed-dog sections maintain broad contact with the underside of the fabric.
This helps move fine material, stretch fabric, standard woven cloth and layered projects consistently beneath the foot.
The feed dogs can be lowered for darning and free-motion techniques with an appropriate optional presser foot.
For quilt sandwiches, matching checks, stripes or difficult layered fabrics, a compatible Elna even-feed foot can be added separately.
Place the bobbin into the hook from above and follow the marked threading route beneath the clear cover.
The transparent cover makes it easier to monitor the remaining bobbin thread while sewing.
The automatic-declutch bobbin winding system disconnects the sewing mechanism while the bobbin is being filled.
Place the button into Automatic Buttonhole Foot R and the machine uses it as a guide for the required buttonhole length.
The complete buttonhole is sewn in one continuous operation, helping maintain consistent sizing across garments and home projects.
The included stabiliser plate supports the fabric and buttonhole foot together, improving control around uneven or layered areas.
The eXperience 550 provides approximately 170mm of working space to the right of the needle.
Fit the supplied extension table when sewing patchwork, quilt blocks, home décor, bags or longer garment sections.
Remove the front accessory compartment to reveal the free arm for sleeves, cuffs and trouser hems.
Position straight stitching accurately for seams, top stitching, edge stitching, zip insertion and patchwork.
The included foot helps maintain accurate patchwork seam allowances.
Support blocks and larger fabric sections on a broader surface.
Stop with the needle lowered when pivoting or repositioning.
Limit the maximum speed for appliqué, curves and detailed piecing.
Lower the feed dogs for free-motion practice with an optional foot.
Add decorative detail to appliqué, borders, quilt labels and smaller projects.
The eXperience 550 is well suited to patchwork, appliqué, straight-line quilting and smaller free-motion projects. An even-feed foot and free-motion foot are available separately.
