An ideal introduction to computerised sewing

Simple to learn with features you can grow into

The Elna eXperience 450 is designed for beginners, students, class attendees and occasional sewists who want more control than a basic mechanical machine.

Select the required stitch using the electronic navigation buttons and confirm the stitch number on the clear two-digit LCD screen.

Control the maximum sewing speed, operate without the foot controller, stop with the needle in the fabric and secure suitable stitches using the dedicated function buttons.

At approximately 5kg, the machine is easy to take to sewing classes, quilting groups and workshops or return to storage after use.

Why the eXperience 450 stands out

Useful computerised functions without unnecessary complexity

01

30 built-in stitches

Choose utility, stretch, overedge, appliqué and decorative stitches for everyday projects.

02

Start and stop button

Operate the machine without the foot controller when direct hand control is preferred.

03

Speed-control slider

Limit the maximum sewing speed for beginners, curves, appliqué and detailed work.

04

Needle up or down

Raise or lower the needle at the touch of a button for pivoting and positioning.

05

Automatic lock stitch

Secure compatible stitches neatly without repeatedly sewing backwards.

06

Built-in needle threader

Reduce the close-up work required to pass the upper thread through the needle eye.

07

Retractable feed dogs

Lower the feed dogs for darning and free-motion techniques with an appropriate foot.

08

Quilting package included

Begin patchwork and layered sewing with the supplied table, walking foot and 1/4-inch foot.

30 Built-in stitches

A practical selection for construction, stretch fabrics, edge finishing, appliqué, repairs and decorative sewing.

The stitches most home sewists need

Utility, stretch and decorative sewing

The complete stitch selection is printed across the front of the machine, keeping every pattern visible while you sew.

Choose the stitch number using the electronic controls, then adjust the stitch width and length when the selected pattern allows.

  • Straight stitches
  • Zigzag stitches
  • Stretch seams
  • Overedge stitches
  • Blind hemming
  • Appliqué stitches
  • Decorative patterns
  • Memory buttonhole
Four direct-access function buttons

Important controls positioned close to the needle

Operate the machine, reverse, secure the seam and change the needle position without reaching across the machine.

These direct controls help beginners concentrate on guiding the fabric rather than navigating complicated menus.

  • Start and stop
  • Reverse sewing
  • Automatic lock stitch
  • Needle up or down
  • Maximum speed control
  • Foot-controller operation
Set a comfortable maximum speed

Adjustable speed from slow to 820 stitches per minute

The speed-control slider limits how quickly the machine can sew, even when the foot controller is pressed firmly.

Beginner sewing

Slow the machine while learning fabric and foot-control coordination.

Curves

Reduce speed when sewing necklines, armholes and rounded seams.

Appliqué

Maintain control around detailed shapes and close turns.

Long seams

Increase the speed for straightforward construction and piecing.

Better control when turning the project

Needle up and down function

Press the needle-position button to move the needle between its raised and lowered positions.

Lowering the needle into the fabric before lifting the presser foot helps hold the project securely while pivoting or repositioning.

  • Pivoting corners
  • Appliqué
  • Patchwork
  • Top stitching
  • Curved seams
  • Accurate fabric positioning
Top-loading bobbin and free-arm area of the Elna eXperience 450
The horizontal rotary bobbin loads from above beneath a transparent cover.
Easy machine preparation

Top-loading horizontal rotary bobbin

Place the bobbin into the machine from above and follow the marked threading route beneath the clear cover.

The transparent cover makes it easy to monitor the remaining bobbin thread while sewing.

The automatic-declutch winding system disengages the sewing mechanism when the bobbin winder is moved into position.

  • Top-loading bobbin
  • Horizontal rotary hook
  • Clear bobbin cover
  • Automatic-declutch winding
  • Three bobbins included
  • Additional spool pin included
Faster upper-thread preparation

Built-in needle threader

Lower the threading mechanism and guide the thread through its hook.

Releasing the lever draws a loop through the needle eye, reducing the close-up work required during setup.

This is especially useful when changing thread colours frequently or when threading fine needles.

Ready for patchwork and layered sewing

Walking foot, 1/4-inch foot and extension table

The regional package includes quilting accessories that are often sold separately with entry-level computerised machines.

Use the 1/4-inch foot for accurate patchwork seams, the even-feed foot for layered projects and the table for additional support around the sewing bed.

Ideal for

  • Patchwork piecing
  • Quilt sandwiches
  • Straight-line quilting
  • Checks and stripes
  • Layered fabrics
  • Bag making
  • Home décor
  • Long garment sections
Move fabric layers together

Even-feed walking foot included

The machine’s feed dogs move the fabric from below. The even-feed foot adds feeding action from above.

Moving the upper and lower layers together helps reduce shifting when sewing quilt sandwiches, stripes, checks and difficult fabric combinations.

Quilt layers

Help keep the quilt top, batting and backing aligned.

Checks and stripes

Reduce movement between carefully matched fabric layers.

Slippery fabrics

Improve control where one layer moves differently from another.

Thicker projects

Support more consistent feeding through bags and home décor.

Accurate patchwork piecing

1/4-inch seam foot included

The supplied foot helps maintain the narrow seam allowance commonly used for patchwork and quilting.

Guide the edge of the fabric along the foot to create more consistent seams across blocks and smaller fabric units.

Combine it with slow speed and needle-down control when sewing detailed patchwork pieces.

More support around the machine bed

Extra-wide extension table included

Fit the table around the free arm when working with projects that benefit from a larger, flatter support area.

Keeping the fabric level with the needle plate can reduce drag and make it easier to guide larger sections accurately.

  • Patchwork blocks
  • Light quilting
  • Bag panels
  • Curtains
  • Home décor
  • Long garment sections
158.5mm Space to the right of the needle

Useful working room for garment sewing, patchwork, appliqué, repairs and everyday home projects.

Repeatable garment finishing

Four-step memory buttonhole

Attach Sliding Buttonhole Foot J, mark the required length and sew the first complete buttonhole sequence.

The machine can repeat the recorded sequence for additional matching buttonholes during the current sewing task.

The eXperience 450 uses a four-step memory buttonhole rather than an automatic button-measuring one-step buttonhole foot.

Reach narrow garment areas

Convertible free arm

Remove the front accessory compartment to expose the narrower free-arm sewing area.

Tubular garment sections can then pass around the arm rather than being flattened across the full sewing bed.

Sleeve hems
Cuffs
Trouser hems
Children’s garments
Bag openings
Narrow alterations
Control the movement of the fabric

Retractable four-piece feed dog

The four-piece feed dog moves the fabric beneath the presser foot during normal sewing.

Lower the feed dogs when you want to move the project manually for darning or free-motion techniques.

A compatible darning or free-motion quilting foot may be required depending on the technique.

Six useful feet in the regional package

Ready for construction, zips, decoration and quilting

Standard Foot A

The general-purpose foot for straight stitching, zigzag and many utility stitches.

Zipper Foot E

Sew closer to standard zip teeth, piping and raised edges.

Satin Stitch Foot F

Support dense decorative stitching, satin patterns and appliqué.

Buttonhole Foot J

Guide the fabric while sewing the four-step memory buttonhole.

Even-Feed Foot

Help move upper and lower fabric layers together more consistently.

1/4-inch Seam Foot

Maintain a consistent patchwork seam allowance.
