20cm / 8 inches 1091-8 A longer ruled edge at your work table

Check an unmarked needle

Pass the straight needle shaft gently through the holes and read the size at the closest fit. Judge the shaft, not the tapered point, and never force a needle through a hole. US and metric references help you compare the needle with your pattern.

A needle gauge checks diameter. It does not identify the MINI, Small or Large screw-thread connection used by interchangeable needles.

Measure your knitting with care

Use the ruled edge for short measurements and checking a swatch. Finish the swatch as your pattern recommends, lay it flat without stretching, and count stitches and rows away from the edges. Compare with the pattern tension before choosing a different needle size.

What you receive

One durable plastic ChiaoGoo ruler-style needle gauge in the selected length. The 13cm and 20cm options are sold individually, not as a set. Needles and other tools are sold separately.

Questions before you choose

Is this a square swatch-window gauge?

No. These are slim ruler-style tools with needle sizing holes and measurement markings. Our square swatch gauges are separate products.

Does the tool choose the right needle size for my project?

Start with your pattern and check your finished swatch. Your yarn, stitch pattern and knitting style also affect tension.

How should I store it?

Keep it flat, protect the printed markings and do not force needles into the holes. Use a flexible tape measure for long garment or body measurements.
