Choosing feet, needles, bobbins and machine care
Choose the foot for the seam
Start with a standard industrial plainsewer foot for everyday straight seams. A left or right zipper foot gives access beside a zip, while compensating and guide feet help position topstitching. Piping, gathering and hemming feet support more specialised operations. Non-stick and roller feet offer options for suitable materials that drag under an ordinary foot.
Check the screw-on fitting, working width, needle opening and feed-dog clearance before sewing. A specialist foot does not change your machine into a walking-foot model or increase its rated fabric capacity. These are compatible accessories from the brands identified on each listing, not a claim that every item is genuine ZOJE.
DB×1 needles for your ZOJE
The ZOJE models covered here are the DB×1 versions supplied by Direct Sewing. Shop DB×1 / 16×231 needles, choose a size within your machine’s specified range, then select the point for your fabric. Test with your intended thread and seam layers before starting work.
Stock up on the correct bobbins and cases
Compare bobbin diameter, width and centre hole with the part already fitted. For a bobbin case, match the case reference, hook and any anti-backlash arrangement used by the machine. Match the 52237 / BCDB1-type case reference to the case already fitted. Keeping the correct spare bobbins ready can make colour changes easier.
Cleaning and oil selection
A lint brush and suitable oiler are practical additions to a workroom maintenance kit. Switch off and isolate the machine before cleaning or fitting parts. Follow the ZOJE manual for oil type, filling points and level marks, including any separate hook reservoir; a general “sewing machine oil” label does not by itself confirm the required specification.
