Vario Creative Tool or Vario pliers?
The Prym Vario Creative Tool 390903 is a tabletop press with an adjustable pressure screw and lever action. The Vario pliers 390900 are the compact handheld option. Both work with interchangeable inserts, but not every accessory fits both tools: check the specific tool set before ordering.
Which snap-fitting set do I need?
Match the Prym fastener series as well as its diameter. These sets contain fitting tools, not the snap fasteners themselves.
- Jersey 8mm & 10mm: set 673134 for the matching Prym Jersey snaps.
- Color Snaps 9mm & 12.4mm: set 673133 for Prym plastic Color Snaps.
- Anorak 12mm, 15mm & 20mm: set 673136 for the matching Anorak fasteners.
- Sport & Camping 15mm: set 673135 for this specific Prym fastening system.
The separate Color Snaps removal kit 673140 is for 9mm and 12.4mm Prym Color Snaps. It is not a universal remover for metal press studs; removing a fastening may leave a mark or hole in the material.
Eyelet and rivet tools: check the size and system
For Prym eyelets with washers, choose set 673131 for 4mm, 5mm and 8mm sizes, or set 673127 for 11mm and 14mm sizes. The larger-eyelet set is for the Vario Creative Tool, not the handheld Vario pliers.
Rivet set 673132 is for matching Prym 9mm rivets. Tubular-rivet set 673128 is for Prym 7.5mm and 9mm tubular rivets with the Vario Creative Tool. These are different fastening systems, even when a diameter is the same. Eyelets and rivets are sold separately.
Hole punches and replacement inserts
The range includes piercing set 673125 for Vario pliers and the 2.5–4.0mm piercing set 673137. The Creative Tool 390903 already includes 2.5mm, 3mm, 3.5mm and 4mm punching tools, so the separate set is useful for replacement rather than an essential extra with a new press. Piercing inserts make holes; fitting dies set the fastener. They are not interchangeable jobs.
Before you fit the first fastening
Check the tool, insert, fastener series and size together. Follow the pack's fabric and preparation instructions, reinforce where required and test on matching scraps. Not every snap needs a pre-punched hole: Prym Jersey snaps use a different fitting method. This collection contains Vario tools and accessories only; fasteners are separate.
